Wife and I have gone for coming up on six years without needing reservations. Sometimes we have to get creative in finding someplace to stay, but that's actually rare for us.

We usually never make reservations. It always works out. Planning every step of your vacation so far in advance sounds like work to me and would certainly take the fun out of it for me.

Left home 28 days ago with no reservations.

The only issue we had was in Denver.

Truck stops in Colo will not let you over night without a DOT number displayed on your RV. Thats news to me and bears investigation.

In Denver we stayed at the "fabulous" Denver Meadows RV park for $70 a night. It was all we could find so beggars cant be choosers........

Some of our stops have been bare bones but we have always met nice people.

I bought an RV so we could freewheel and go where the road takes us.

About 1-2-3 in the afternoon we stop and look ahead for places to overnight. Some days I want to log 400+ miles, some days 250-ish.

Tonight we are in Salina KS at a park with power and water. No sewage, restrooms or showers.

Tomorrow I hope to be in East St Louis to stop by an old friends house but its 450 miles, dont know if Im up for that long a haul.
