The core of the "climate debate" is all about greed and profits for those that sell the alternatives. History has repeated itself many times with various products, trends, etc that solve a problem created by those selling the solution

I'm pretty sure the the "debate" is as much about the polluters discrediting the consensus of the Academy's of Science of every developed nation on the planet for $$$ as anything else. As Friedman wrote in "Hot, Flat and Crowded" .."If there was a 1% chance your house would burn down in the next several years you wouldn't put your kids to bed there until you'd done something about it".. The Pentagon has determined the greatest threat to the future global order is not Russia or China or Radical Islamic Fundamentalism, but population migration occurring consequent to the effects of climate change.
Otherwise, we're getting there as ~38% of our total energy requirements are currently being provided by renewables, solar, wind and nuclear. China is at ~30% and increasing at an exponential pace, bypassing us in the capacity to store energy ( battery technology), key to making solar and wind viable.

I'm envious you don't have brown air, but you don't have a population anywhere near that of California. Your entire state is less than half of Los Angeles county alone!

I remember driving through the brown haze hanging over San Berdoo going to the Coachella Valley to visit my grandparents in the late 70's & early 80's... you could feel the gritty haze in your eyes and throat! CARB has had it moments where actual change for the better has occurred; that brown haze is gone today. Admittedly, they've got too big for their britches and need to be dialed back to reality.

Lets keep politics out of this. California and Texas each have their own issues no matter what side your on. This isn't about any one state, but rather what we as individuals. We can each make our own decisions as to what products to endorse, purchase, and modify.

I personally have chosen to modify many of my products to make them perform in a manner that I prefer.

Texas power grid is a problem, and in the next 48-72 hrs we are going to see just how big a problem it is. I have prepared for the worst and am praying for the best.

My long term solutions for preparedness have to include storage capacity of some sort. Either Diesel fuel for my generators, batteries for my solar, or a combination of both.

To avoid Federal regulation Texas is a "power island". During the apocalypse in '21 Texas was unable to import energy from States with surplus like other States can during emergencies. The ironically named Electric Reliability Council Of Texas ( ERCOT) covers about 90% of Texas but does not allow enough importation of electricity during statewide outages to make much, if any, difference. Data Centers and Crypto Farms are exascerbating the situation here.

While avoiding federal regulations on the power, Texas is still regulated on the methods used to produce power under EPA, Clean Air Acts, etc.

This brings the discussion full circle to the original topic of over regulation and the results it has on all of us.

I think whether we’re over or under regulated is a subjective matter of context, political perspective and opinion. Which I think was just addressed.
