We have nuclear powered ships, imagine the day when autos have nuclear power. With the advent of EV which is spreading fast, maybe micro nuclear power devices will be the next best thing and do away with all of the batteries, weight, etc.

I personally have no interest in a EV right now but when shopping for a new car the engine powered options may be more limited. I can't believe how many EV/Hybrid options I'm seeing now.

Nuclear power is far better than any other source.

RV's with nuclear powered engines will sure be nice over 605 HP diesel engines! And you won't even need to heat the bedroom living so close to your reactor

What is "GREEN ENERGY"? CO2 levels are at the lowest level in recorded history! Some scientists say we are at a level where GREEN plants may die off!

Plymouth rock is still at sea level, no matter how many predictions said It would be underwater! The only real crisis is when their wrong (and they have quite a record), the taxes they put in place to fight the latest predictions, didn't die with the the false noise!

And @Neal ! With the nuclear thing! With our government faltering, there is history that tells the future of such, when the governing body no longer is strong enough to keep them safe!!!

Humor aside, it could be used as a hot water heating source too. We could do away with OASIS hydronic heaters and another diesel burning source.

The problem comes in trying to adapt nuclear power to the auto industry. As far as I know all "nuclear" power currently uses a reactor to generate steam, which in turn powers the propellors on a ship, or generators in a power plant. So, autos would need to carry a large container of water to convert to steam to provide motive power. The other alternative would be to use the radioisotope supplies that NASA, and others, have used to powe deep space probes - I don't know how much power they generate currently - would it be enough to power a vehicle?

It would be interesting and as steam is a byproduct of the Nuclear reactor, it would be funny to see all the RV's in a campground putting off steam, guessing that's not ideal either. Someone will invent something, with EV's coming out in force someone has to be thinking about it.

This thread is beginning to read like a Fallout prequel with the back and forth on nuclear powered vehicles... Next we'll be talking about Nukem Cola and wanting Pip-Boys strapped to our arms.

At this point, with the threat of CARB creating lots of F.U.D., dealers are finally able to push and sell the backlog of inventory that has been pilling up in their lots. Used rigs will see resell values maintain higher asking prices. I could be wrong, but my prediction is the log jam will break RE CARB (if not in CA, but the other states that adopted it) and the RV sector will be granted some sort of extention, but not before this backlog of lot rot inventory clears out.

Best,
-Mark
