Considering 2018 Thor Axis 24.1

Hi all! I’ve had a couple of smaller towables, and was considering upgrading to a C class so my husband could be more comfortable. (He’s not as much a camper as I am, but he has suggested this would be a nice treat as he is recovering from cancer treatments, and we could make some road trips.). I came across this smaller Class A which is in our budget, and it seems to have everything we want but so much nicer to drive. It almost seems like a no-brainer. Can you help me learn about this type of rig and why I might NOT want to go with a Class A? Thank you!
 
I’ve owned different trailers and a couple class A’s. I’ve never owned a class c, but for me personally I think I would prefer the class a. The diver and passenger seats can be part of the coach and it would seem easier to get into the coach in the class c. A class c I “assume” will give you a more of a truck feel when driving.

This is exactly what I am thinking. Seems like this would be a nicer ride too, but will it be more difficult to access some areas? I don’t see ground clearance listed in specs.

Most place are pretty level. I wouldn’t think that would be a problem.
 
We set out to buy a class C last year, but seeing how awkward it was to 'climb' in & out of the seats, we went with a class A. ('18 Thor Axis 25.2) Never happier!

Thank you. That’s a good thought. I really like being able to make the seating become part of the living space.

We looked at Class Cs and the smaller ones had ridiculously low OCCC (under 900 pounds) and were hard to move from the house to the drivers seat. We chose the Thor Vegas 25.5, which has twin beds like the 24.1, but has a large rear bathroom with a 30"x36" shower. Our Vegas has an OCCC of 3179 pounds and is on the Ford E-450 chassis.
 
Agree with what others have posted. Lots of advantages and disadvantages to both, way too many to list here. Class A will probably give you more storage space in the basement/garage areas. Class C will be easier and cheaper for annual maintainence. After owning 6 towables over many many years we weighed all the advantages and disadvantages of each and went with a Class A. Very happy with our decision! Only you can decide which will best fit your budget and needs/wants. It's a hard decision so take your time and weigh all the criteria. Either way I suggest you hire a professional certified RV inspector before you sign anything or put down anything but a refundable deposit.

That sounds perfect. I should look at that size as it’s not much bigger but the larger rear bath sounds good. I saw a review that showed some disturbing quality with the Thor Axis (dripping on dash - in the showroom!) Have you been happy with the build quality and ride?

I work as a product specialist and have been in RVs for the last 3 years. I have carried Thor Vegas which is sister product to the Axis, built identical. Of the motorhomes I have sold, those units seem to typically need some aftermarket parts in order to correct the drive. I have recommended before sale having the front suspension upgraded, most of the time folks will say no and then down the road come back in get it. It is a great little coach, but I would strongly suggest taking this unit down the highway on a test drive before purchasing.
