We are all learning. You could use the 50 A surge protector, EMS even better(Progressive I dustries is what I use) with the appropriate dogbone to match where you are plugging in.
 
A good EMS will keep an eye on the voltage, no matter if it is 15A, 30A, or 50A. They really don't care what the amperage is or even if the two lines are coming off of one wire or two.
