I am returning to RVing after 25 years of boating. The last two boats I had were diesel with onboard gensets that were water cooled and thus very quiet. I remember the Onan genset on my 89 Fleetwood Flair was air-cooled. We are now considering buying a late model Tiffin Allegro Bus 40 diesel pusher and I am wondering about the genset. I know that they are installed in the front of the coach but I wonder, are they water cooled and do they have Catalytic Converters and use the DEF like the main power plant? Just beginning our search so have a lot of catching up to do.
Thanks

Yes they are liquid cooled and the Onan “Quiet Diesel” makes less noise inside the coach than the AC units. My 8kw is very tolerable, unlike my last couple gas motorhomes with the Onan gas 4kw. The Onan diesel is under 80hp so does not fall under the diesel emissions requirement. No DEF, SCR, DPF, ETC.
