Problem Mouse in the coach

I use the old style traps with cotton string tied to where the bait is placed. Then use peanut butter where some of peanut butter is absorbed by the string. Never had a trap set up this way get cleaned up w/o setting it off.

Well, I have come to the conclusion that it is a rat. It has avoided all glue traps and spring traps. I can't imagine what it's eating as there are no food products on the coach. I just emptied all the bins yesterday and today I'm starting with RatX poison inside and out that's supposed to kill while eliminating the smell by dehydration. I hope this works as it's starting consume my waking thoughts to the point of exhaustion.

Tonight I have 3 different types of poison, 3 Tom Cat rat traps, 3 glue traps, and one Victor old fashioned rat trap. The Victor has been there for 3 nights now and I guess he got used to it. I turned on the camera just in time to see him dance around it trying to figure it out. Then.... SNAP!! It was better than watching an MMA fight. 1 Rat gone to see his ancestors. I'm leaving the bait out to make sure there are no more. Hoping not as this is the only one I've seen on camera. Maybe I can get some sleep tonight!

We keep our RV in a 2 sided enclosure in out yard...I have caught several mice using the TomCat traps. Recently I have started to use the Tom Cat Spray Repellent...I spray the tires, and about a 1 foot strip on the concrete pad around the RV, i do this once a week. I have been using this for a month with success...keeping my fingers crossed.....Also spray under the kitchen sink area.

Our coach at this point is pretty well empty of everything which is on the back porch and we are cleaning to within an inch of its life. I opened the slides today and vacuumed all cabinets, behind drawers and outside bins, then cleaned surfaces with Lysol. I left the slides out and still have the cameras on waiting to see if there's any stragglers. Last night there wasn't any movement at all with the coach closed up, so I'm hopeful.

I was having a problem there for a while, I even found a basement slide with about 1 LB of acorns in it - I don't think rats like acorns so I had bigger problems
When I was up in Nappanee to get my slide and windshield repaired/replaced, my wife asked me to offer to pay them to find where these critters were getting in and plug them. Just before my trip up there I was looking for pathways for rats and removed the washer and there was a 3" vertical hole starting under the raised toilet on the other side of the w/d cabinet. The plumbing coming via that hole ran along the wall through the w/d closet, through the pantry cabinet, under the fridge cabinet and into the kitchen cabinets (my non-slide side of coach). - it works because the rat can't smell through it once it's finally cured. It is different in another way in that it is slow rising foam - spray enough foam to fill 1/3 the vertical hole and come back in about 4 hours and it will be totally sealed. I haven't had a rat inside the house since. It is not for filling horizontal holes or places it can run out of before setting up. Newmar made a piece of plastic to fill the main slide track on our single slide - no more acorns. Not sure where else they filled.
So, look for places plumbing comes into the house and seal it up. Once I filled the hole in the w/d cabinet it blocked the rats path. Also don't forget to fill any gaps where the power cord enters the coach and also the water and drain hoses. I use Bronze wool - doesn't rust and critters don't like to chew on it - its cheap and last years. Rhodes American Homax Fine Grit Bronze Wool Pad 10.11 L x 5.25 W in. for Marine & Industrial Use

I think your conclusion is correct. Mice do not have long tails like that one at least up here in Canada they don’t

Since the capture, there hasn't been any movement on the cameras. BTW, I have to add a plug for Wyze cams. They even pick up floating dust in the air and send a vid clip to my phone if the sensitivity is set high. I have 3 cams on the coach and 8 at home along with their sprinkler control, robot vac, door lock, thermostat, and a couple other electronics. Great stuff, and inexpensive. A big THANKS goes out to all here for tips and opinions. The trick about using string on the traps from @JRS was a good idea. I think that's the only thing that made him get caught. I'll let it go as is for a couple more nights before loading the coach again and pulling the slides in.

That looked large for a mouse Bwk, I had a black rat get into mine last year and he would not be caught by a trap. Same with squirrels. Finally got him with 2 kinds of poison.

I agree. That's a rat, I think.

I put my coach in an enclosed garage yet I saw mouse droppings in the garage but fortunately at this point nothing in the coach. I purchased from Amazon the ultra sound (I think that's what they're called) and also have a couple of traps in the garage area. It's been three weeks and I've not seen any evidence of mice. I have one ultra sound units in the coach and one under it and the units supposedly work up to 1200 ft. Either way, no mice so hopefully these are working as promised. They claim that other unwanted animals will also avoid the area. Cheap enough to try it out! Good luck

I had a rat in the attic/storage space of the detached garage at my mothers home. friend of mine had a rather large pet snake, put the snake in the attic space, left the garage access door open with a bucket trap.

only took a few hours for the rat and its kin to vacate the garage and get trapped in the bucket. snake was pretty happy with his full belly as well methinks.
