Hey all,

I have not seen this mentioned on here (I apologize if I missed it), but did see this mentioned over in the over place... Apparently Newmar has changed the gasket they use on their compartments which is softer and allows you to close your doors without doing the "Newmar Slam". After thinking about this for a while, I decided to spend the money (I am a cheap skate) to help with the closing of the doors...especially with the one under the driver, the pegboard and the two at the back/drivers side (if you have a rear radiator).

I have to say it did help a lot. And I apparently over ordered and/or Newmar sent a bit more than I needed as I have quite a bit left over, so if you are ever in my neck of the woods and want a length to try, let me know and I can sell it cheap. :) I guess I could ship some too...

I also have a bunch of the old gasket from the doors, so if anyone wants that, I can give that away for free! I did use some of the old gasket on the engine compartment and DEF door to keep it from rattling/and closing more soundly. And if you still have lead acid batteries you may be able to add it there as well.

Anyway, I thought I was pass this along.

I think @Dutch Star Don knows the source, but I believe this comes from uni-grip, the same I bought for my battery bay door and still have, unused as SES installed one that seems fine.

This is the one I bought, it's probably NOT the one for the standard basements, but if someone knows the correct part it may be cheaper to buy direct.

@Richpatty, how did you attach the "new style" gasket to the battery bay? Since there isn't a lip on the bottom, I'm stumped.
Thanks.

Post #2 above is the one I bought for my battery bay after the LiFePO4 upgrade. As SES installed a gasket I never used it. Could sell it to you if you want it, still in the box. I paid $162 to my door.

As you stated, there is no lip on that bay, so you need an adhesive one.

Good question… let me go back out there and look. I know I didn’t have a flange in the top so I put a trip of insulation on the top of the door to help close the gap there.

Will let you know.

I looked and it appears that I clipped the gasket on the edge of compartment. I took a pic...hopefully that helps. I also included a pic of the compartment before the gasket was added so you can see the front edge I am referring to.

Thanks, Rich. I have the same moulding.

I'm looking for the rubber gasket material that goes into the slots where the power cord and water hose get inserted to exit the coach. It's different from the gasket that goes around the door.

My understanding is that they use the same gasket, but you just have it go around the curve of that opening. I had to replace mine for the power cord and was able to use the regular gasket, although it was challenging to get it to stay in place. I needed to glue it and clamp it in place until it dried. It has been fine since then.
