Would love to hear updated thoughts on this thread as we are looking to buy a used motorhome. But no matter the outlook, the bottom line for us is that we want/need the motorhome for a trip this summer; we don't want that to be our first time out so we need it sooner to give it multiple tries (assuming a learning curve). So if we want to do this (big trip as an introduction to something new: RVing with the fam) then now is the time because kids don't stop ageing until a more convenient time. Even still, would like to go in with eyes wide open.
Interest rates are very good right now. We have not seen any raises in months. In fact, a couple lenders have softened up a couple programs. Lenders still need to lend.
Let me know how we can help.

Thanks for your reply and information on rates. We are financing-adverse (no mortgage, no car payments, no credit card debt, etc.) so that means we are looking at older, low-mileage class Cs to get us in the game. There seems to be a lot of those units out there but since we've not looked at other times we don't know how it actually compares to other times. Guess that's the point: looking for insight from the experienced as to how used prices compare now. Have they come back down? On the way back down? We know this is an expense, not an investment but don't want to take a bath on something we are assuming we can easily resell if we either want out or want something different after a bit of experience.

The prices seem to be steady. The new inventory seems to be growing a bit and inventory drives prices. Every step on the wheel turns better when more things are available. The BEST timer to buy is when you have a need and you find the unit you like. I have been in the Marine and RV business since 1984 and have never seen a year when prices went noticeably lower. Not really sure that trend will start now.

Thanks, Ken. Based on that, now is the best time for us to buy: need/want one now and we think we've identified what we'd like. But having only tent camped off our motorcycles or from the truck with our kids, who knows if this will be like we imagine. It's that inexperience with RV'ing and the vagaries of life that makes us enter cautiously and look for an out without a huge loss, if needed. Thanks for the reassurance that taking a bath is unlikely (unless we make a really wrong turn and get duped into a dud, which could be a whole other thread!).

So we went ahead and bought a 2006 Winnebago Outlook 25F. Other than getting it home cross country, we haven't taken it out yet. We did pay for a prepurchase inspection which gave a measure of comfort that it was a solid coach. Had a giant disappointment right off when it had a massive leak in a torrential rain on the road after having never leaked before (a major reason we went with this one) and it had been just resealed (as recommended by the inspection), "just" as in the day before we handed over the check. We were already too many miles away to turn back so now we have to find a repair place in our area. Keeping it covered in the meantime. Also had a blow out that damaged the compartments behind the wheel from the flailing of the separated tread and had to replace the main belt after it shredded a few states into the trip. Next we need a covered trailer for the four dirt bikes and a big dose of patience and sense of adventure.

Oof. I would need a big dose of something else to go along with the patience.
