Oregon to charge out-of-state RV campers 25% more

Before everyone gets their knickers in a knot, this is not the “new new” for additional fees. Colorado state parks charge an additional $9 a day for your toad on top of your CG fee. Other states have similar plans that generate operational revenue. As to Oregon State Parks, I am an Oregon resident, and I cannot get into an Oregon state park as they are fully booked till November. used to never have to worry about getting a space - times have changed.

Actually Florida’s parks provide a FL Resident discount in many parks.

Are you sure about that Joe? We have probably stayed in a dozen or more Florida parks, both public and private over the years and there has only been one that gave us FL residents a deal.

Topsail Hill State Preserve up in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, charges half price for Florida residents. The State doesn't have any choice with how their prices are structured though at Topsail. The family that left the facility to the State Of Florida made that a requirement (FL residents get a site for half price).

This is actually a very good idea. Florida should adopt this.

Wait until Arizona picks up and runs with this. A lot of unhappy campers.

Also saw where Henry’s Lake campground, in Idaho, is now charging nonresidents a pretty good additional fee for camping there. Seems to be the “new norm”.

There are other states that charge more for non resident use. Change may be hard, but I see this as making sense. The state parks were set up for that states residents using their tax money. I don't mind paying an upcharge when I go off range. I get to review the cost and if I find them exorbitant I can choose to go elsewhere.

The only flaw I see is that I don't really ever stay at parks within my County or State. Been there done that. Oh wait, I did one time. I wasn't very impressed.

Why are any of you in favor of this? Do you really think it will improve conditions and facilities? Why would you want to make it more difficult for people to come to your state and support your local businesses?
