You see them in motor racing such as NASCAR. Wouldn't it be cool if we could apply something to the windshield once we have it cleaned and after we get to the destination we can peel off a layer to remove the bugs?

One of you ingenious inventors - invent something :)

On second thought, we’ve got enough plastic trash that we can’t get rid of as it is, so this would need to be biodegradable and how is that going to hold up on your windshield out in the elements?

Newmar has an option on their build sheet for “temporary windshield protection—for transportation only”. $92.00

Silly me thought it was incumbent on the manuf to get their product to the customer in one piece.

It is, but if they don’t you will have the pleasure of waiting for dealer service and a new windshield. The $92 option ensures that won’t happen.

That makes sense.

I’m right in the middle of a diamond shield removal project. Not a big fan at the moment.

Install on our 2020 DS was terrible. Trimmed poorly so edges don’t adhere allowing dirt underneath. Bubbles in it and bottom edge not sealed. It is on my warranty punch list to be replaced next month.

I agree about DS. After having the “best” films out on a half dozen of my vehicles, I can say that the DS seems to be the worst! That opinion is because of it being so thin and fragile. And, when I saw a tech at Newmar struggling to hear and rip it off, I said what a nightmare!

I’ve had my high quality films repaired in small sections and it wasn’t a big deal.

Ok, so...windhshields. YES! They DO make films for vehicles. I checked on it a while back. But, the price is horrific. Yeah, better than paying for a windshield but Not if you have a high deductible like I do. I recall the film being upwards of 700-900?

You would think it’s cheap and easy since it’s merely a square. But, high quality film THAT YOU CAN SEE THROUGH WITHOUT DISTORTION is super expensive.

We need a SUPER-SIZED screen protector like our iPhones have. 😂

And, I would imagine proper installation of several layers of film, with no bubbles etc. before each trip would be more trouble than just cleaning off the bugs.

I wonder how a film would hod up with the wipers on in a rainstorm
