The short answer is yes. Carbide or hss, or carbon steel. With the right grinding wheel they can all be sharpen.

Oh no. I have to buy yet another tool? ?

No, you can:

1. Buy new blades.

2. have them sharpen at a sharpening shop.

I bought a knife sharpener at a gun show several years ago. It has 2 little overlapping steel wheels you drag the knife blade between to sharpen the knife. It works GREAT!!! My daughter cuts herself every time she cooks at our house because my knives are SHARP! Her's must be pretty dull at home. :ROFLMAO:

every time I sharpen kitchen knives I have to put on a warning label....:)

And I try to keep them sharp. At first Saundra didn't like the sharp, now that she is used to them she lets me know when they are dull.

I gave up sharpening table saw blades when they came out with carbide tipped ones. they cost a lot more, but last a lot longer
I have a stone that I use to sharpen my wife's kitchen knives and my chisels

I do still sharpen my carbide ones with a diamond hone. Of course when you are cutting wood and aluminum you must do something.

I wrapped up my Henkel's (6 of the larger ones) and trotted off to the local knife sharpening place. It burned down last September when a wildfire swept thru two communities here in Southern OR. So there they sit - dull.

I’ve used “Lansky Professional Sharpening System with Coarse, Medium, Ultra Fine, and Serrated Medium Hones” to sharpen many different knives, including large kitchen sized. Works pretty well and they come out very, very sharp with not much effort

I always wanted a ruby hone, honestly I could never afford one.

I use the accusharp on most of our kitchen knives, they aren’t high end or fancy but they are Brazil made tramontina made knives and cheap. We have several in rotation, 3 of them the same, seems redundant I know. We always have a clean knife on the magnetic block. I have too many knives at this point, Chinese and hand forged Japanese vegetable knives. Bushcraft knives, and an unnecessary amount of pocket knives, several spiderco knives and one fallkniven. I have a kitchen sharpening steel for honing, a pocket diamond steel by fallkniven and a basic sharpening stone. I’m still agonizing over the purchase of some high quality Japanese water stones that will cost a few hundred dollars. That being said you can get away with what I have had easily. I really like the tramontina kitchen knives, commercial quality, cheap and easy to sharpen, unlike a Damascus steel Japanese knife.

I’m such a loser, and my grandfather would be ashamed. I only recently began carrying a knife full time and have to relearn everything I was taught 50 years ago.

If you have quality tipped blades, it's for sure worth getting them sharpened. Works like new when reinstalled. Boy I miss my shop.....
