That’s the concern. For my issue the controller was bad.

I would try rebooting the slide controller by removing power from it for over a minute. I don’t know if the 12V disconnect “salesman switch” at your entry door takes power from the controllers but I’d start there. Turn off 12V power for over a minute then back on and retry. Otherwise disconnect the connectors from the slide controller to take power away and reconnect and retry.

Good point Neal - I have had to remove the power plug at the controller for 3-5 minutes multiple times to get them to reset. The power in the ones on my coach is on the large connector at the top near the red LED numbers - pinch the plastic clips to remove. very simple.

When the slide comes in that paddle pushes the slide lock on the inside top of the slide up to secure the slide. If you look at your slides on the inside top, fore and aft, you'll see the white paddles that come up and push against the wall to secure the slide.
Moved the slide out far enough to work the paddles.
The good news.
They appear to be working good. When I pull them against the slide the slide locks pop up.

The bad news.
When moving the slide out the motor ran for a bit before the slide started moving. It did go out.
But when trying to retract it the motor just ran it never moved. Then heard some snapping sounds under the bed.
Now the slide is inoperable.

What kind of mechanism runs this slide.

Sure am glade this happened before our first rip in September.

I believe your slide gearbox just gave up. Have you tightened the gearbox bolts? I think it is recommended to do it yearly. Mine got checked every six months.
Empty under the bed, remove the 4 screws holding the floor panels in place under the bed. Then you will have to crawl in there with a flashlight. You should see a shaft going to the gearbox. Check the bolts on the gearbox. But, from what you have said, you may have to replace the gearbox. Good luck and let us know what you find.

The motor runs both ways but nothing moves.
There are slots in the bottom of the tubing. Guessing there is a gear that runs in the slots. Don't know yet if the gear is shot or just loose.
Going to look at that some more.

Something that surprised me is how cheaply the bedframe is made. Put together with staples. It is falling apart.

Found the problem.
What would cause the shaft to break.
Tried calling Newmar, so much static on the phone we couldn't talk.

Got through to Newmar.
They've been having phone problems this week.
Part is in stock.

After further investigation.
It appears that when the slide got hung up the rack kept moving and started pushing through the bed frame.
Now the bed frame is a mess.
What's weird is the rack does not seem to be loose from the slide.
And I can push the slide in and out pretty easy.
But it doesn't quite come in all the way, stops about an inch short.

Taking it to the repair shop next week hope they can figure it out.

Repair shop wasn't familiar with this setup didn't want to mess with it.
Yesterday couple friends and I worked on it.
Got the new driveshaft in that took a while.
It's working.
Goes in and out but makes a lot of squeaking noise, metal on metal.
Have to investigate that more.
From what Newmar told me. When the slide gets to the hard stop for in or out. The motor is supposed to amp out and shut off.
It's not doing that.
Apparently, the controller is not doing its job.
The slide comes in and the lock pop up.
The outside is not flush, sticks out 1/4" or so.
Is that close enough long as the locks are up.

Going to rebuild the bedframe.
Center support for the bed was OSB stapled to OSB.
That all fell apart.
Very disappointing to see how that was constructed.
Will be improving on that design.
