Could the liar be the one deleting posts after being shown the federal penalties for lying?

Liars never cite sources.

Liars use bluster and deflection.

Liars are narcissists.

Liars eventually get found and fired.

As MemoriesByTheMile stated earlier "It Will be interesting to see how this plays out" Either way, I think someone is facing a law suit. I'm glad I'm not in the picture. ;)

I am embarrassed for both Mr Tubman and the brand for how this is being handled. If I was officer of the deck, I’d order full stop.

Verified my Freightliner VIN is on two plates in the engine compartment loud and proud.. so why hasn't Spartan done something similar??

I am asking for all consumers and Dealers to stop buying Spartan chassis RVs until a VIN plate is affixed to the chassis.

Any on order RV should not be paid for.

Dealers need to step up and help the consumer. I know the dealer is not directly in the chain of liability, but there is a gray area now that dealers know that Spartan chassis are not compliant with NHTSA regulations.

Consumers can call their dealer and demand either a freightliner chassis or that the coach be delivered with a 17 digit compliant vin on the Spartan chassis.

Dealers can refuse to pay for in production units until this is resolved and help inform your consumer as to why you’re taking this action.

We have Newmars attention. Newmar is the largest customer of Spartan Chassis and can be our voice with Spartan once we apply the pressure.

This is the quickest path to a full resolution.

Once they make the change to new deliveries we have created the case for a recall to fix the coaches we own.

Action like this is the quickest and best way to resolve.

Will any dealer agree to support this call to action?

I honestly dont see the reason for the additional cost of the Spartan chassis.. snake oil to me.. and see what that extra money got you?? a headache.. going back to camping... :)

The other place just closed the discussion. It was after extreme pressure by Newmar I am sure. Posting anything more over there won’t be productive as we have seen in the past, so my call to dealers is going to be much less effective. Owners you need to be putting pressure on your dealer to help you. Put pressure on Newmar. Put pressure on Spartan.

Don’t be silent.

Should I make a video showing how easy it is to remove the Newmar sticker?

I know it comes off, I had to move it once because I put it on crooked.

Watching the full video there are some very valid points.
And yes, the coach appears to be non compliant with VIN requirements,
I’ll be talking with both Spartan and Newmar this coming week.
The following week I’ll be at Newmar for additional service so I can speak face to face.
If need be, Spartan is only a few hours up Rt69 from Nappanee.
Keep you posted.

I must be missing something. If the stamp isn't on the rig, and it has to be to be legal, why the heck is anyone arguing about it? It may be unpleasant to fix the problem, but it will have to be done eventually anyhow. So call us in, install the tag, and let's get on with life. Why the foot dragging?

I just checked the engine compartment and didn’t find what I was looking for, at least not where it was on my previous Freightliner. I did see the VIN on a sticker inside on the cabinet door, but for legal purposes, that won't fly.

In North Carolina, we have to get vehicles inspected every year. It’s only $30, but dragging a 55K RV to a station and watching some kid who has no idea what he’s looking at is an unnecessary pain. Florida doesn't have such a stupid requirement, so when we bought property in Florida, we registered our London Aire there. Part of the process was either taking the RV to the DMV so they could visually match the VIN to the paperwork, or having a deputy come out to the house and inspect it.

I’m heading to Florida again in a couple of months and plan to register my current rig there as well, but I’ve got a feeling I may run into trouble. Not crossing the border trouble, but a problem all the same.

The issue for Newmar is designing an appropriate fix, get that approved by the various interested Agencies then proceed with a Recall/Repair either formal Recall or using a less involved mfg notice of recommended repair.
Unfortunately this will not be a quick fix even if it appears to be a simple fix.

First thing is Newmar has to acknowledge they have a problem. So far it’s been deflection and denial.

Spartan has been quiet, as they know they have a problem.

Just for giggles I went out and took a photo of mine at an angle so the vin isn’t readable. It is riveted on a steel member in the engine compartment that could be removed very easily by removing 6 bolts. This is on a Freightliner chassis built in 2016. I wonder if this is compliant?

Maybe ..:: maybe not, but at least it has one.

I believe there are more places too for the tag on Freightliner. I remember one underneath when I was on the rack at HWH, towards the tag axle near the air dryer canister.
