Question Tow vehicle behind a Class C RV

Two years ago, we decided to explore the RV lifestyle. For the past decade, we had been touring by motorcycle, specifically with a sidecar. We initially took a few local trips with our RV and even purchased a flatbed trailer to haul the motorcycle/sidecar rig, which worked well. However, at 81 years old, I began experiencing health issues last year that forced me to sell the motorcycle after 58 years of riding.

Our current car is a Subaru that cannot be flat-towed (with all wheels on the ground) and is too heavy for our flatbed trailer. We are now looking for a suitable secondary vehicle to tow behind our Class C RV for exploring local and forest roads. I am considering a street-legal side-by-side, as it would easily fit on our trailer, though I have never owned one. Alternatively, if I were to tow a vehicle on the ground, I am thinking about a Jeep or another smaller vehicle with a manual transmission. What would you recommend?

I would recommend you flat tow, at 81 you want to make it as easy as possible.

I had a street legal side by side that I sold recently and purchased a used 2014 wrangler to flat tow. It is the best offer both worlds for off road and running around town. I'm too lazy to drive a stick anymore so got an automatic.

You are never too old to go Jeepin' !! Just an FYI the newer JKs and JLs ride more like cars than the older TJs plus they mostly come with AC now.

We had a Hyundai Elantra Sport six speed that we used to tow four down - tech note from Hyundai that it was approved. Towed great and just had to turn in braking system, gearshift in neutral, and parking brake off - go.

We upgraded to a 2022 jeep cherokee trailhawk to tow four down. A little more to get into tow mode but I have come to love the automatic transmission in traffic

Thank you all for the tips. What eve way we decide to do, it will be a used vehicle. I like the ideal of the side by side, but probably not for year around. We live in NE Wyoming, so hot summers and cold winters. . We are in no hurry.

The only 2 I'd consider are 2dr Jeep Wrangler or Honda CRV
