I have a f250 ps 1996. It has 8 ft box. It also has a 1ft wide fuel tank against the cab leaving me 7ft. Do I need to take tank out? (not wanting to) the camper is a 11ft

Yes! But you need to remove the 250 with a 350 as part of the conversion.

You may want to put it on a scale to verify that statement, but if it isn't made of balsa that will be your conclusion as well.

You're kidding right? This truck has pulled a 40ft triple axle Royals International 5th wheel. 19k pounds empty. I take that comment as someone that doesn't know what a OBS Ford 7.3 Powerstroke can do. Plz educate. Simple question was, will it fit. 8ft box is a 8ft box is a 8ft box. Sorry I asked!!

Just because it can do it doesn't mean it should. What's the payload capacity of your truck and what's the loaded (wet) weight of the camper?

Agree, but the tounge weight on that fifth wheel is more then this campers intire weight. I'm understanding the jist of what you all are saying. If i get this or another big camper I will remove. Reluctantly though, i like having 70+ gallons. Thanks guys

The difference is that your pin weight for the trailer is ahead of the rear wheels and a lot more of the weight of the slide in is behind the wheels. I think it’s highly likely that you will need air bags to achieve a ride height that you will like and feel comfortable with.

It's becoming sadly obvious the tank should go. Amazing what 1ft can do. I'm thinking maybe go with a smaller 5th wheel. The camper is ideal for what we will be doing. Dragging a trailer is just another bunch of bearings and tires to deal with. Just want for quick golf weekends and lake camping. 3 or 4 times a year. Thanks again!!

I apologize! My response to your question was measured, but not enough. When filled, that tank weighs in at 500 lbs, or 1/4 ton. My latest creation weighs in at roughly 900 lbs. That's your 3/4 ton capacity.

Yes that's a harbor freight trailer.

There is a famous YouTuber named Bob wells. His channel is cheap rv living.

One of his videos he talks about the scale of life. Yes I think many times he could wear the hat of a philosopher. No matter his scale measures comfort vs. Freedom. That little camper is a reflection of what he talks about in that video. I am calling it my travel trailer. Other than things I had laying around, I have less money tied up there than what I figured the difference in gasoline for the trip I plan to be. That is the Freedom factor!!! And though it has bathroom facilities, refrigerator, A/C, heated bed, comfortable seating, and Stand up room for getting dressed. It has very little comfort. A true tail gator at best!!!

I find it hard to believe an 11ft cab over camper could weigh in at less that that little trailer. For that matter at twice the weight. Forgetting 500 lbs in fuel, twice the weight would exceed the capacity of a 3/4 ton truck, I don't care who makes it, or the drive train it has.

On another note is center of gravity, something that cabovers present.

Anyhow it looks like you are rethinking your direction!
