"Warranty period" and "service life" aren't necessarily the same thing. The warrenty on a new car is 5yrs..do you throw it out at that time? They know how long it will last. And what if you hit the 50k miles in one yr..is it now dangerous to drive? Tires are subject to many variables..stored inside vs out in thd sun..carry heavy load or light..high speed or slow ..to say a 5 yr tire is dangerous is ridiculous.. Everyone can make their own choices..its not for you to call them cheapskatrs..just my opinion..no one needs follow it
I don't know anything was said about warranty other than casing warranty. It was mentioned that tire makers know how long tires last..hence their warrenty....im saying you cannot bsse life of tire on a calender..you must consider all the variables I mentioned..and inspect before every use.. dont just throw them out by dates..or you are just wasting your money..but do as you like..I have gotten 10 ,12 years out of tires over 40 yrs. with no disazterous roll over as some predict. AND have seen new tires explode at speed. Just my opinion..
Legitimate question. However there is still a pattern. And that volume can be accounted as a percentage in the sales records. What about all the tires that outlived warrenty and mfg never saw it , was just discarded. I think i have used warrenty once in my 72 yrs
.threw away probably. A hundred
I sold my last set of Continentals (that had better than 50% of tread life left) to a farmer who was going to use them on some implements. Good deal for both of us. Those tires would never hit pavement again. What about all the tires that outlived warrenty and mfg never saw it , was just discarded. I think i have used warrenty once in my 72 yrs

The overwhelming majority of RV's will never get close to 60k on a set of tires. I'm on my 3rd set at 26k. As dangerous as a steer tire blowout can be, a rear tire blowout ripping around at 60 or 70 mph is going to do considerable damage as well.I did mine at 6 years and 60K miles were on them. I think there may have been some tire wear markers revealing per a FL service visit. It's simply my worst nightmare so not something I wanted to put off. I had RettroBands installed during this process as well, and also centramatic balancers. I had some cupping on the tag axle tires. Everything inspected good, it was time.
