I went AWOL and left the White Sands military base a day early and cut off some driving time to my next stop which would have been 6-7 hours away. I'm headed to a Harvest Host stop at an Aviation Museum and they close at 2 (1400 for you grunts) which I wasn't going to make. Not required to tour or visit but obviously I want to so I hit the road today. I'm staying at a State Park somewhere just west of Odessa, TX where obviously the oil fields are oh'plenty. Love seeing those thingamabobs do whatever they do to extract oil (I need to look up how those work).

Monahans Sandhills State Park. Fitting as I just toured White Sands National Monument so why not find sand dunes in the middle of Texas? Whodathunkit??

Cheap camping around $15/night + $4 for toad. Electric + water, pull through. Dump station on site.
Prickly balls for paws: Yes
AT&T: Nope
Verizon: Nope
Starlink: Thankfully - around 50 down 10 up when it's good, definitely getting deprioritized more lately it seems.

It was a great week at The Ridge for the Hoots rally. Now we're on our way to Deer Springs RV Park with FLSteve right behind. Looking forward to a great trip! Pix to follow.

We stopped at Monahans SP for an overnight in Jan. Really enjoyed the open dunes and sunsets. I was a little concerned about that arch at the entrance and took it down the middle. I guess its about 14’ but it got my attention.

@Rich W. There’s a great park in Monahans that’s brand new and owned by the veterinarian next door who is a super nice guy. You pull in and take any spot you want. Easy in and out.

We made our way to Deer Springs RV Park near Franklin, NC. It's looking like an RV Forums reunion with FLSteve, NWIP, and Jim! Can't wait to see who else shows up this month! Park wifi (StarLink) is strong at 30Mbps down and 12 up. Leaves are starting to change color, too. Haven't seen a bear yet, but we're keeping a watchful eye. This is our third stay here, and certainly won't be our last!

The Vineyards Campground in Grapevine, TX

Been here before stopping through west bound for Angel Fire / Santa Fe / ABQ for the Balloon Fiesta, now stopping through east bound a few years later. I enjoy the spacious sites, water front, and lots of non prickly grass area for the dog to walk and recuperate from grass trauma. She still tippy toes around scared of what she'll step on. The drive in this area is nothing short of insane, a million roads side by side makes GPS a challenge to figure out. I missed my turn but finally made it. At least I had the sense to show up on Sunday, my drive out on Friday is unfortunate but all I could get here. They can move me to another site if I wanted to stay the weekend, I'll probably continue east.

I enjoy the retail and restaurant scene here and I've always loved Dallas as I went to pilot training in Wichita Falls 800 years ago. Refreshing stop when you've been remote a while.

Cellulars all good, didn't try Starlink but may for curiosity later.
Cable is pretty good
Someone had no clue in grading sites, horrendously out of level probably in older areas like I am
SAT may be hit or miss depending on your site, there are trees
Great campground setup with amenities and friendly staff.

We live over in the Charlotte area and would love to meet up with you guys some day. I wish we would have known…. Next time!

Two nighter at Greensport RV in Ashville Alabama slowly making our way back home, but in no hurry to get back now as we actually have power restored at our house. FPL has done a miraculous job down there!
Beautiful setting on a lake with small marina. Level sites, good OTA, no cable, good Verizon signal, very quiet.

Yep ... we are here too. Here are a couple of photos. The one has @GlampDaddy in the background up on the hill and @NWIP is right access from us. The smoke is the "smell of bacon" cooking.
