Hey everyone. My oasis fluid is due for a change (maybe overdue) and was wondering how many of you have done this yourselves or had someone do it. I got a quote from a local guy for about $700 including the fluid.

Thanks

$700? What in the world is involved? I changed a pump without clamping the lines and 1/2 of my fluid flushed out. I filled the reservoir back up with new fluid for whatever the fluid costs. Now I agree that whoever does the work will probably need to find a more professional way to drain the fluid, but damn man, how hard can it be?

Unless there is some kind of secondary flushing fluid that they run through the system???

Edit: Has ChatGPT do a search and yep, that is apparently the going rate. Even more in some places! I think I would do it myself. Doesn't appear there is that much to it.

The fluid is listed as $30 per gallon….for $10 gallons. So that’s half of it. I believe my system will probably take up to 15 gallons.

I know you can get a better price…even CW has it for less than $25 per gallon and I think you can buy it in 5 gallon buckets for less, so there’s that.

I have been thinking of doing it myself…even if it took me many hours. But was wondering how many people have actual done it themselves.

Good luck, Rich!

@Chuggs did it and think there’s a write up on his experience

The AZ Expert offers a comprehensive video showing the procedure to drain and refill your Oasis hydronic heat system on YouTube. I plan to complete that procedure in the spring!

I done two so far. MY brother's and my system. It took me about 3 - 4 hours on mine and probably 3 hours on his. I use 10 gallons on my Ventana and 15 gallons on his Essex. It's not difficult but watching the video will really help. There are a couple fittings you will need to connect tubing to the Oasis drain and fill connections. (3/4” GHT to 1/2” NPT fitting )

Thanks. I have watched that video….and it helps, but I have an Oasis NE-S which does not have the separate junction box…. I have instructions that show that you should flush with fresh water which he didn’t not do.

So do many people do this themselves? I am leaning that way….

Did it in November - bought a pump and basically it was 3-4 hours. Watch the video from the guy in Arizona.
I bought a 25' piece of clear hose and cut in half and a few fittings - enough hose to reach outside the bays easily.
the boiler fluid is most of the cost.
Made a little flat tray to go under the fittings with a piece of sheet alum and bent up the edges and sealed the corners with silicone to avoid too much drip. Not sure it was worth it, a sheet of thick aluminum foil and some rags would have worked the same. remember to follow directions to get air bubbles out. Also clamp the hose at the oasis that goes to the overflow or you cannot open the radiator cap on the oasis without leak (ask how I learned that...)
