After speaking with Randy at ITR, he confirmed that this is the case.I’m pretty sure that turning on the bypass switch does just that, it bypasses the pump control and turns them all on at the same time. That is why, if you have no or intermittent hot water or heat in one zone, everything seems to work. You could have 2 of the 3 pumps be bad and the system would work with just one pump, just not as efficiently.
No. I think I paid 250/ea from ITR but I'd get the ones from US Solar or wherever it was, discussed on this site, for far cheaper, same pump, despite ITR says it's not.Looks like I can get one for $279 at heatmyrv.com. Is that a decent price?
Neal, I have a question. Have you tested alcalinity of the fluid? Why? Because heating antifreeze degrades the fluid. Corrosion follows. Understanding that the pump is a magnet drive may stop seal problems, doesn't stop impeller sticking in a system. Locked rotor can multiply starting current for the motor. Extended lock rotor can heat a fuse to the point of failure. Sitting unused for extended time could cause the impeller to stick.I know there was talk in this thread about the runtime hours (lifetime) of these pumps. While my RV was in storage I turned OASIS off at the unit itself, obviously off in the coach. I'm not convinced that OFF on the unit powers down the 12V side and the pumps. I need to verify this. It was odd that I turned the main unit OFF and replaced the 10A fuse for the summer loop and fuse blew. If it's OFF, how could it blow the fuse?
