I remember the days of black smoke coming from diesel exhaust. While DEF sucks it does seem to have fixed that problem. For some reason though I guess it's not good enough?

The catalytic converter and factory cleanup made the difference. This was based on science and had no impact on the average consumer. Since then the changes are absurd money grabs full of corrupt practices.

Except nothing changed. Instead of black smoke we know have the same carbon being dropped on the ground and going into the water. Before it went into the air before going into the water.

The only difference is we don’t see or smell it anymore.

I know CARB is a state run mafia agency, but I wonder if they could be sued using the recent

"The Supreme Court weakens federal regulators, overturning decades-old Chevron decision"

as a basis that state law can not supersede Federal law somehow.

This is one of the many things that will happen. Once states rights are limited to the borders of their own state, many ridiculous side effects will be resolved.

Any state that accepts federal money for federal roads will have to follow federal laws. This includes ports of entry, airports, etc.

California is no longer the cheapest option for shipping goods. Mexico has opened ports and railways that are very fast at moving product into Arizona and Nevada skipping all the California regulations for trucking.

Warehouses are moving to Texas, Arizona, Nevada and leaving California.

whatever happens, the market place will find a way to survive.

Will the RV manufacturers just give up and quit selling to these 6 states? Or will this cause chassis manufacturers to start providing new options?
Is this the beginning of the end of the large RV?
We as Americans tend to like our big houses, big cars and big RVs (I like big ____ and I cannot lie…).
Love our 45’ Super C.

My hunch/hope is it will be a fear tactic now and never come to fruition maybe after litigation. We'll see what really happens.

I am amazed by the lack of coverage this has had in the RV trade rags (online and print). Crickets...

I'm just confused how the letter in the OP lands on chassis vendors and not the engine vendor? How are FL and SP part of this? Maybe they own the after-treatment "emissions" side, I don't know.
FL and SP are the vehicle manufacturers. They issue the VIN. Everything else on the truck are just parts.

Apparently what happened is that FL and SP are not shipping into California the required number of EV's to "allow" them the privilege of continuing to sell ICE vehicles in the state. I don't see California giving in on this issue. It is how they have coerced the other ICE manufacturers (like Ford and GM) to make EV's to ship to California. Maybe this will be solved in the courts eventually but for now I suspect it will be gridlock short of some court order stay on this foolishness. For now, everyone that can should get out of California, individuals and companies alike. It is the only somewhat near term solution to this stupidity.

For those not following California news, Newson is moving to DEFCON 1 with the political changes this week. While RV's are just a tiny piece of the emerging conflicts with California, it is probably safe to assume there is not going to be any compromise soon on an issue so fundamental to the power structure of the state.

This is pretty much all over the Internet now so we'll see how this plays out. Vendors affected are obviously going to have to take this to court.

Vendors going to court doesn’t solve the problem.

Citizens and individuals are the ones with standing , even more so than the vendors.

It just takes one person to sue the CARB to get this thing unraveled. It has to be an individual with standing (aka live in a state bound by CARB) who is willing to spend personal funds for justice.

Lawyers will tell you that a person who sues for justice is a fool about to lose money, so it would also have to be someone willing to be called a fool and lose money.

Done properly and with enough media attention, go fund me and other revenue streams would open up.

It would be great if a platform existed that would encourage citizens to take a stand for principles and to finally go after the crooks in power that profit from their version of how we should live.

I personally have no standing. My businesses that are in affected states also have no standing due to the fact that we title our vehicles in other states.

Correct. This problem will only be solved by those people and companies who live and do business in California. 58% of the voters in California keep voting in politicians who make these foolish decisions. Until that changes they win and if you want to buy a new diesel pusher in California you are out of luck. What the majority of citizens in California don't understand is that this foolishness does not stop with a ban on certain RV's.

This will include all dually 1 ton pickups. This not only affects the RV world, but the horse world and the hot shot workers that are crucial to the warehouse to job site delivery final mile.

The impacts are going to be much larger than anyone has imagined as it will affect 100% of the citizens in the CARB states.

There is something I saw on the internet about this. It seems that the states have to get approval from the EPA to do this. That approval (my understanding) has not been given, but was “letting it go” because the current gov is really pushing EV’s. It looks like new government policies next year is to stop the EV mandates and possible stop what California and the others from doing this mandate.

Sorry, I’m doing the from memory so I can’t remember all the details.

It's so hard to talk about this governmental mandate without talking about fighting or mitigating it politically. But, I'm asking that you please help us fight like the guy in the video says, by contact your Representatives. We don't want this spilling over onto more states.

I'm hoping that Trump is able to rescind this, and other mandates. I can't imagine being a California dealer, like Tom Lindstrom, who's RV business was almost entirely built upon the Newmar diesel line! He got out at the right time.

I'm just as afraid of the potential increased scrutiny that will be placed upon the "out of state" registrations. Because you can guarantee that's going to be the ONLY avenue someone has in these 6 states.
