Another little update:

I tried to start a regen again today with the Diesel Decoder and got tired of waiting for it to initiate and gave up, although I only gave it about five minutes. Also looking through the live data it has a field for DPF soot load regen threshold and the value was something like 2.05%, and my DPF soot load is reading 0%. So maybe thats why. Didn’t have time to talk to their tech folks.

I then plugged in the DL handheld, and it initiated a regen immediately. So at this point the Handheld is the only device Ive tried that I will recommend, because it initiates regens immediately and reliably, and also has a field for the after-treatment injector activation. You know when it turns on and can watch the after-treatment temp rise. This gives me complete confidence in the device.

I’m no longer an advocate of the Diesel Decoder, other than for the fact that it gives comprehensive live data, clears codes, is easy to use, and is cheap. For regens, even though the tech guy said it should work, and it did for me once, it isn’t immediate, and I’m not convinced that you can do a regen at any time.

Hope this helps.

Does the handheld clear codes?

@FLSteve I don't know for certain that it will work with the epa22 engines, but assume an update will be made available if it doesn't.

I bought direct from the company so that I was guaranteed support. Some companies have differing policies for Amazon purchases, and I didn't want to risk it. Cost $70 more for that peace of mind.

Cursor over to the HDOBD screen and it takes you to code clearing. It will clear codes on anything with OBD and they routinely have firmware updates you can download and install.

Got my Diesel Laptops Handheld tool today, two days early, ordered from Amazon. Shipped from Diesel Laptops direct to me and of course fully supported by them. I probably won't touch this until next stop, Santa Fe, but we'll see if curiosity gets the best of me between now and Sunday.

X2! Also curious if your manual has instructions for regen. Mine didnt but its intuitive enough for me to manage. But it seems like they would at least mention it in the manual.

I will let you know when I open the box. A few other tasks ahead of it for now.

I opened the box and retrieved the manual, nothing about regens. I placed manual back in the box and left it alone. A dollar is on the line!

Received the Diesel handheld unit and giving it a try. It showed soot level normal. My screen matched Rich W's screens. Regen in progress temperature went up to 1052.024 degrees. Will let it run until it says complete.
