Tip - Advise against using locking hitch pins for RV toads (towed vehicles)

In reading this thread on anti-sway hitch tighteners I noticed @Tjdave like me was not using locking hitch pins. I used locking hitch pins on the tow bar and the toad when I started out. They became a real pain on the toad side especially as a newbie finding myself disconnecting/reconnecting far...

If you use a hitch tightener, you won't be able to quickly remove the tow bar assembly from the receiver; wrenches are required. The better approach, IMO, is to focus on pulling the pins at the ends of the tow bar arms.

There's another whole debate; do you lock those pins or not?

I don’t. I use the roadmaster pins and and carry three extras. I can be convinced to use a different one if there’s something better.

I wholeheartedly agree; let's get back to hitch tighteners and not go down the locking hitch pins rabbit hole.
