One time when we were traveling on I-10 from Baton Rouge toward Texas, on one of the many miles of elevated highway over swamps, we noticed a motorhome smoking in the distance, on the eastbound bridges. By the time we passed it, which could only have been a minute or two, it was engulfed in flames. We couldn’t stop, the bridges are not accessible to each other.
We never did find out what happened.
But it did make us think. What if you were in an accident (heaven forbid) turned over onto the side to block the main exit. Do you think you could access the alternate exit in seconds? It seems to me it might be a good idea to carry a sledgehammer or some way of breaking out at the front of a motorhome. Thoughts, or better yet, plans? We might be able to slither out of the driver side window…. Maybe ……I haven’t tried it lately. 😆

One of the reasons we like our Superstar.

Driver door, passenger door, mid entry door passenger side, and escape window driver side bedroom.

The other thing I keep handy and accessible is a knife that has a seat belt cutter as part of it - just in case. Hopefully never need but you never know. It also has a post on one end that will shatter window glass if needed.

We also have a SuperC and ours has a split windshield. In addition to having the 2 doors on the cab, either side of the windshield can be forced out by a good shove/push from the inside.
The safety aspects of more egress and front protection is one of 2 key reasons we chose a super c.

We ordered a drivers door on teh CanyonStar for this reason. If the vehicle is laying on its passenger side all exits were blocked. Unfortunately, this is not an option for the DSDP.
