One time when we were traveling on I-10 from Baton Rouge toward Texas, on one of the many miles of elevated highway over swamps, we noticed a motorhome smoking in the distance, on the eastbound bridges. By the time we passed it, which could only have been a minute or two, it was engulfed in flames. We couldn’t stop, the bridges are not accessible to each other.
We never did find out what happened.
But it did make us think. What if you were in an accident (heaven forbid) turned over onto the side to block the main exit. Do you think you could access the alternate exit in seconds? It seems to me it might be a good idea to carry a sledgehammer or some way of breaking out at the front of a motorhome. Thoughts, or better yet, plans? We might be able to slither out of the driver side window…. Maybe ……I haven’t tried it lately.
