On our "tune up" trip this week before our excursion this year, I went out to do the dump and noticed the Sanicon was making a different noise. It was still working, but just didn't sound right. Figured I'd take it apart when I got back home and see what was the matter. Just about half done with the dump, the hose developed a pin hole and luckily didn't turn into a sprinkler as the sleeve kept it contained. Got back home and pulled the thing apart to find the motor section was full of water, and not the good kind.:poop: This is unit #2 and hose #3 in the last 6 years. Going back to a slinky as gravity always seems to work. PS, if anyone needs a new Sanicon Turbo hose, I've got a new, never used Thetford brand in original packaging for sale, cheap.

I removed the 4" hose that connects the black and grey tanks to the Sanicon and I reverted to the gravity dump as well. I’m holding onto it for when I eventually sell the RV, but I just didn’t like how long it took to pump the tanks. Sure, it’s handy if you need to pump uphill, but how often does that really come up?

The gravity dump takes less than a minute, while the Sanicon took long enough that I’d start losing interest. Haven’t really missed it since.

We have a sanicon, sitting right next to the stinky slinky. Sanicon gets used every year at the end of season, but the gravity driven slinky gets used all the other times. Gravity is faster, cheaper and more reliable.

Haven't even tried the sanicon, 25 years of RVing, Slinky has never failed me and don't recall ever uphill situations

I removed mine and is sitting about six feet from where I removed it, up against the wall.

Interesting...I always thought there were a lot of fans of these around...although it never interested me. Glad to see I might not be missing anything.

Working on the coach today, I removed all of the Sanicon equipment and installed a semi permanent setup for the slinky. Now, I can connect outside the coach and not worry about blocking off the open space to keep critters out. The slinky even fits in there now. (I've got a cap on order to block off the open end under the coach)

My first round with sanicon was in the 2019 DutchStar. This was a flawed design. The correct sanicon for this coach is the 400 or 600 directly attached to the 3” outlet. The idea of a hose leading to the 500 causes more trouble than it resolves.

I do like the design of the 2022 LADP and the built in 700.

My coaches have had macerated toilets for all bathrooms, so I rarely engage the pump, rather just allow it to flow thru the bypass and out.

I don’t notice the extended drain times as I use barker valves to remotely dump and have automated it based on predetermined tank levels.

In January I installed a 400 on my parents Canyon Star, and he uses the pump for every dump. He really likes the clean nature of the sanicon connection and the lack of needing to connect and store a hose.

If the 400 fails, it’s a 2 minute job to remove it and attach a 3in hose.

I personally am a sanicon fan.

I have the Turbo 400S on mine, as stated, it attaches to the 3" port. I have replaced it once, so be it, not a big deal, the hoses are the bigger deal. But having it always connected so I can just pull it out, dump, stow it, or keep it out and connected are nice options. I have had to connect uphill a few times so the pump is good to have. As my current hose has a pinhole and I'm too lazy to change it (yet) if I don't use the pump it doesn't leak, it is taped but I'll change it out soon. I wired mine so I can dump from the inside but also turn sani-con on/off from the inside but I rarely use the pump as well. I hate having the pump on when I cannot oversee the dump process. My fear is quite a show I'm not participating in during the internal dump process :)

We are able to park our RV next to the shop in the back yard. I only had an electric hookup. We bought a good 12v portable macerator and use it a couple of times a year. The run to the septic is about 75' and it comes in handy.
My DS didn't come with the Sanicon and I just couldn't justify the expense.

Yup, I got caught up in the hoopla with the original unit (twist on) with the 1" hose. Waiting for it to drain was much like watching paint dry. Then, wow, a TURBO model! Has to be better. After careful measurement to make sure I could install it, I bought one (again, twist on) and used it for about 3 years before the motor gave up. Bought another motor unit on sale that had a different attachment type so I switched the mount section and it's worked about another 4 years. Multiple hoses along the way also. I think I'm done drinking the Kool Aid.
