Hi,
I am wondering whether there are panels out there that have a lower mass than the average. I am looking for panels to install on the roof of a vehicle and don't want to exceed the max. load rating of the roof. After reading about the delaminating issues with (semi) flexible and CIGS panels I am just looking for rigid solar panels. Does anyone have information on this?
Thank you.

It's never just about weight! If I recall my 250w panels weight about 60 lbs each! Most of that weight is the glass. Due to the age, efficiency is not what modern panels offer. That translates into weight. Smaller panels will add weight because size to watts increases, also the amount of framing.

Larger panels may also offer the advantage of less mounting hardware. That translates into unwanted pounds.

Cutting to the chase. The battery bank will likely come in heavier than the solar.

You can design for storage, or production, in a small system. This will be your choice!!!
