Also, I see lots of people talk about having soft starts, but what is the practical benefit of it?
By replacing your startup capacitor with its much smarter electronics it lowers the amount of AC current required to start your air conditioner or heatpump by up to 60% to even 75%. So, let's say you are plugged into a 15 or 20 Amp circuit while moochdocking, you might be able to run one of your ACs without tripping breakers. Will also help if using a little Honda 2K generator with a travel trailer or fifth wheel. Or help while trying to run an AC off an inverter if you have lithium batteries. More 411 here...

Has anyone tried one of THESE? I had a friend tell me about them.

I have 3 installed and have had them for 2 years, it helped to prove that the mid A/C was going bad by showing them the live amp draw and the startup draw.

I can run 2 on 30 amps w/o and issue now.
