I had a power surge a while back and have been been able to fix most of the problems it caused but the one I haven’t figured out yet is my microwave. I have power to the plug, and the light comes on when I open the door but the lights on the control panel are not there. I pulled the cover off and I replaced the 5A in-line fuse and it didn’t do anything. Any suggestions?

Did you unplug it and let it reboot? I assume you unplugged to change fuse?

Be careful, there are capacitors inside that thing, and if they get you, the wife gets to call the paramedics. You will be better served replacing the microwave because you likely fired some boards, finding which one and fixing may be more trouble than just tossing and buying a new one.

All Microwaves are cheap compared to many things, so for OP to toss the original one being as it's in a 2002 Kountry Star, (assumed based on signature) is common sense. If it was 8 years old, it might be cost effective to maybe fix it. We have one here 10 years old, and periodically close the door and it starts. I have watched YouTube videos on fixing it, but like mentioned, new ones are still within budget and more than likely will just replace it. If, it was Amana original one, would try to fix it. Being as it is made in China, well that country is known for stuff not lasting, I think the one we are looking at is made in Mexico, better place of origin.
