@NWIP I know you aren't serious about the Essex ( at least I think I do ), but another member was seriously looking at one. I spent a lot of time with that member going over the differences for the $106k ($150k retail) and couldn't find anything that even justified $2k. This was on an apples:apples comparison, even adding the bedroom window to the LADP.

Most of the essex materials can be specd in the LA. The caps and overall dimensions are the exact same. The only reason to get the essex is for floor plan 4569 or 4578.

The differences for 2022 that I identified are:
  1. Manibloc system exclusive to Essex & KA
  2. Silverleaf video in bedroom for HD360 - Exclusive to NA,EX,KA (for now--I will be fixing that)
  3. My Rozie from factory -- you can add this on your own for $300
  4. Tablet included with EX & KA -- You can add this on your own for $300
  5. Massaging Charis - Exclusive to EX+KA -- You can add this on your own for $300
  6. Bedroom Window over bed -- Was exclusive to EX+KA, but 2 people have reported it being added to their LA
So my list of items includes only 2 that cannot be added to LA for sure, and 1 that may be able to be added (#6). The rest of the items you can add for less than $1k

The engine is the same. The materials are the same. The price difference of the $106k is based on my specials of adding KA floors, DS countertops, etc, and taking a stock retail price essex as-is and using the same discount.

The jump from MA to LA would be very similar thought process -- except at least I can say the engine is bigger. At least there is something unique going from MA to LA, so I ignored that price difference.
Correct, not really serious about Essex but thanks for the difference or lack of. We are starting to think about LA possibly at the next big design change (2024?). Lots can change with market, economy and personal circumstances in 2 yrs.

I predict that the KA will go to a bus chassis soon, and the essex will fill the shoes of the current KA, being the top of the line custom built.

Newmar never had the funding to do a conversion business, but that is the next market for the KA, and the prices are getting closer all the time.

That may mean the KA would no longer be built on the same production line, which would then give to the argument is the KA a newmar or a wbgo?

I can see this happening by 2024.

don't forget you can also go to the comnet and search you coach serial number by adding "cs" to the end and it will return all documents they have on your specific coach.

Try the search with both the "CS" at the end and without the cs at the end. You get different results.

Right now they only have your custom paint prints loaded, but as soon as it leaves BLDG 7 it will have the VIN loaded and all of the cabinet changes, etc.

Wow! That's great. I didn't know you could do that. Thanks @redbaron.

@redbaron
And all, this is a great source of informaiton. Since I just joined and trying to get up to speed, is my coach number listed on my production order report? It has customer number, production number and order number. Or is this still to be issued?

Best regards,

@FloridaSon Your coach number is the production number on the production order report.

Production number is your coach number.

Thank you both,
I guess it takes a while to get in the ‘system’ but now I know how to search later on.
All the best!

Is anyone planning to get a third party RV inspection prior to taking possession of their coach? My dealer says it is a waste of money. Thx

Who is your dealer? That will determine the answer.

Unless it is NIRVC, Midway, Steinbring, Coachlight, or Tom Lindstrom...I would say that it is mandatory that you have someone inspect the coach that knows RV's.

A lot can happen in 2 days. I'm so excited. Although she is due to come out of paint Oct. 13th, there are shortages so it's a mystery when I'll get the wee Beastie. Here are some more photos:
@ARD .... what's the latest update on your new coach ????

Attended the ‘virtual’ NEWMAR tour today. Asked and was told our 3412 had been “pulled” and the sub-assemblies were being built.

I attended today’s virtual walk through, also asked for a status update on my order and was told the same thing..we placed our order mid July, and were told a December delivery. I do not know what the timeframe is from being ”pulled” to start of production, hopefully not long. From what I was told at the walk through, is that from start of production to completion is about a month then add several week's for inspections and testing... then of course delivery. So looks like 7 to 10 weeks from start of production to delivery. Is that a good estimate?

@FloridaSon ... what is the ‘virtual’ NEWMAR tour? Is it something you can sign up for?

FLSteve

It is a pretty cool online tour since real tours are cancelled. You follow a video tour guide through the plant. This part is videoed in 360 so you can drag a mouse around and see all around you. But on the side is a chat window with a real rep, ours was Chris who answers questions, even emailing you later if she has to track down an answer.

Received a email from Newmar today. My Baystar hit the production line, I got my production number and vin#.... i placed my order July 15th... looking at December sometime for delivery to dealer. So now it feels real...

It's too bad they won't let you just watch a tour without registering (maybe they do but I didn't go thru the the registration step). I took the tour when I was up there, they didn't ask if you owned a Newmar (which I did) but used it more as a marketing tool - anyone could take the tour. There was other brand RVs (coaches, 5ers and TT) in the parking lot and their owners were taking the tour. I met a woman that had a 90s Newmar 5er in for service and she spent her off time in the tour. She said she (her DH had passed) has been coming in for service every year since they bought it in the 90s. I think she drove a flat bed Chevy 6500.

@Togin ... that's great and congratulations. Glad to see that things are actually moving. So the email came directly from Newmar and not your dealer?

Steve, I received the email directly from Newmar... It was from Chris from customer service. I have not heard from my dealer, I will be going to see him next week to drop the Centramatic Wheel Balancers off to him for installation when the rig comes in.

Chris was also the woman that led the tour and checked on mine.
