Resolved No water getting in from City Water inlet

I assume this is the first time you have used the city hookup. If that is the case a piece of building material likely flowed down to the first tee and blocked the water flow.

Yes, it is the first time. Based on the amount of construction debris I have vacuumed up, it would not surprise me if something got into the water line. God forbid they should test the systems before delivery, but it is what it is. I will be conducting an autopsy this weekend and will post my findings, with photos as necessary.

Well, the plumbing autopsy is complete. The camper manufacturer, Sunset Park Rv, installed the inside hose connector to the City Water inlet, without a cone washer. What this did is to allow the connector to thread too far into the inlet, thus jamming the check valve closed. Installing the cone washer allowed enough room for the check valve to open. Picture attached. This however brings up the question of why such small clearances. I’ve decided to rebuild the fresh water plumbing using all Pex instead of the combination Pex and Camco braided water hose, which is starting to “pinch” in certain areas. I’m going to look for an in-line check valve and remove the one on the City Water inlet.

Hello Kevin D. I wonder if you could help me with a water issue? We have a wonderful 2011 Heartland Big Country, currently staying at a park in AZ. It appears while on city water connection, water pressure is somehow bleeding over and filling our fresh water tank to over fill and leak out. I have turned off the city water and just using fresh water pump for daily use. Could this be backing up through a faulty water pump? Thanks for any help, Ivan W.

@ Weicor: Sounds like the check valve on the water pump is not closing. Does itstill do this after using the pump, turning it off and then using city water? You do turn off the pump when on city water, I assume?

Yes, it does continue to send water to the fresh tank when I reset to city water, and yes I do turn off the pump when connected to city water. I will replace the pump when we return to base camp in kansas next week. Thanks for your guidance. / ivan w

when you get the new one, don’t throw away the old pump. I had one that would run and not pump water. I removed the bottom sections, cleaned the diaphrams and re-assembled it. It worked perfectly. I carried it around for several years as a spare.

Getting ready to order a new pump. Orig equip is a Shurflo 4008-101-E65. Can I replace that with a 4048-153-E75 pump to upgrade?? Or should I stay with the orig model? Our unit is a 2011 Heartland Big Country 5th wheel.

The dimensions are different, but I don't see any reason why not. I would check with Shurflo to make sure.
