The mother may have just weened it and set it off on his own. Learning how to forage for himself. At least that was my thought.

We got into Dawson Creek the other day and spent two nights there. I found out Hwy 2 Klondike Hwy is closed due to fires. We had to go through an active fire just before we got to Ft. Nelson 3 days ago. Sign warned us of smoke and not to stop for any reason.

Today we had a change in plans. My mom is not as bad as she was so we’re diverting to Tacoma Wa. We found a comparable AC for the RV and we’re going to get it installed before we hit the heat. We’re taking 97 down then crossing at Sumas Wa.

A word of caution on the wild life. Don’t think you’re safe pulling over at a rest stop. We pulled over and Twila took the dogs out so they could duet her business. The door to the RV was facing away from the road. When Twila and the dogs got back in, I looked in my rear view mirror and a grizzly bear came from across the Hwy and went behind the Rv to the other side. He wasn’t more than 15 ft from the RV. Now I don’t think he was after Twila or the dogs, but it would have been a surprise for everyone.

Elli will be potty trained before going to AK! No way am I going outdoors on that trip!

We took Hwy 97 south through Prince George. This was a very nice road to travel. We kept seeing places called “150 mile house” or “141 mile house”. I finally realized hwy 97 follows the goals rush trail and these were places people would stop along the way. Some places still have the original houses as historical sites. That was really kind of neat.

Then we went through a town full of chainsaw carvings along the highway. They were everywhere depicting almost everything. Found out the town hosted the world championship chainsaw contest. The town is called Chetwind.

Then later on the landscape changed dramatically. Hwy 97 to Hwy 1 It went from a mountainous forest land to almost barren desert type. It reminded me of Wyoming. Still very beautiful and awe inspiring. Following a river with train tracks on both sides. Beautiful…

Gorgeous pics!

glad you’re still enjoying your trip rather than just racing home

Down in Tacoma WA. waiting to get my new ac in the rv at Camping World. What a packed place. Culture shock after leaving Alaska, British Columbia, and the Yukon. Camping World has a 7ft high 7000 volt electric fence around it. Wow.
We took a break from clocking so I went and got 2 bacon cheeseburgers, 2 fries, 2 large drinks. $50.00!!!!

I hope they don't keep you long but if you are stuck in the Seattle area for a while there is a few good places around worth visiting. The Museum of Flight can keep you busy for a whole day. Pikes market is an interesting place. A ride up the Space Needle will give you a good view of the harbor.

Safe travels

Darrell
