VIN # 4 is on the Line

My LightShip has started assembly. The two beta production units are off the end of the line and now the first 4 customer LightShips are going together. They are running about a month behind right now over estimates last Summer with some supply chain and startup integration issues. All to be expected as you crank up the line. Right now they are aiming for a December delivery for VIN #4. I will update as I get more information.

I have been there in April and July, I would like to make it during canopy mating. That could be in November. The guys at LightShip encourage position holders to visit the production facility.

We are working on the possibility of installing an electric incinerating toilet (the black tank goes away). The plan is to prewire 220 volt to the base of the toilet during production then work on a retrofit later. Challenges will be ventilation with retractable canopy. This is the first RV with enough on board energy (77 kWh) to support an electric incinerating toilet. It is possible to even incinerate (boil) grey water economically but that will require some heat exchangers. The dream is to not have black or grey tanks in an RV. Imagine that. There is enough power (with some heat recovery) to make that a reality. Hope to make my rig the test bed. With those tanks gone there is enough room in the chassis to double the battery size or add more water carrying capacity. Magic things can happen with these big batteries.

Update on VIN#4, Cosmos LightShip AE.1 11/14/25

My build (VIN#4) is at station 3. I understand the first customer vehicle (VIN#1) has shipped. VIN#1 and VIN#2 are going to customers who plan to use the LightShip in a stationary mode. I have no other details about these two. VIN#3 and my VIN#4 are going to owners who plan to use all the capabilities of the LightShip. The last I heard VIN#3 and VIN#4 will be delivered close together in late December. LightShip is planning to deliver mine on December 31. They are pressing for that date for several reasons, one being that if I buy and take delivery of the LightShip before the end of the year I get a $10k tax credit for solar and batteries under the expiring tax law. Cross your fingers this is cutting it really close.

So the bottom line is that you will probably will not see the first customer reports of experience with LightShip until January. I plan to pick up my LightShip and take it down to the Palm Springs area in January and put some miles on it.

Here are images of my build as of today. It has just completed Phase 2 and will soon to be moved to Phase 3 for the tub and canopy. I am told this Phase moves much faster as the tub and canopy are built up out of house and ready to install. Chassis build up is all in house.

Boy that assembly looks well done & clean, especially comparing it to some of the stuff on the Newmar build. Hopefully it will be trouble free.
