I’m considering purchasing a couple of the Micro-Air units for my DS. My question is is it worth it to get the Bluetooth version? Doesn’t seem like a huge advantage to me even though there’s only about a $35 difference in price.

I just purchased 3, and decided against BT as I don't know that I need the data Might miss it, but I doubt it.

I didn’t know there was a non-BT model. That being said, I love the device. I think the BT function is helpful as it allows me to control the thermostat if my router is off.

I assume you have the micro air thermostat? I was referring to the easy start which I assume @J&JD was referring to.

DOH! Sorry guys.
I do have two micro air soft starts as well, but without Bluetooth. I wish it did….

I can't figure out what I would gain with BT... what do you see as useful?

It's an install and forget. No BT.

Ha. So I admit I never looked into it after I bought mine in early 2019…when the Bluetooth option was not available. I looked back now and was unable to determine what data you can ascertain from the device via bluetooth….so without that info, I will also have to say I am not sure its worth it. I tend to be a data junkie, so I normally would opt for the Bluetooth…

They do a poor job of selling the upgrade. We have 3 people willing to pay more if only we had a justification

It would be nice if someone could outline the install including pictures here at some point. @Chuggs did so for me and made my 2nd install super easy as I paid for someone to do the 1st install who did a poor job. Wish I could find the info, it's a very easy install if you have good directions.

I will in February 2022 if no one beats me to it

RedBaron, I have inquired to MicroAir who states they do not support an API for integration...I am surprised you purchased these because of that....is your thought you will reverse engineer the MicroAir to integrate it in your new rig (cool)?

For mine, I will be developing dumb relays MQTT to a smart control system to replace all climate controls. No UI at the thermistor. Parts should be arriving today to start the project.

re: MQTT - we should share the MQTT / JSON so that only one software driver is needed to interact with both approaches....

re: bluetooth - no need for that in my architecture. Just a webpage to control not just the thermostats, but everything in the RV. So all current smartphones / tablets / on wall browsers will be usable.

Do you need the MicroAir thermostat to add their softstart circuitry? I assumed the softstart can be used with any thermostat? ie: call for Cool, triggers the softstart circuit that then fires up the compressor....
I haven't done too much research like I know you have on softstart....If you have a link to that thread / discussion / tech, please send.
