Need Battery Upgrade, need suggestions on what to do

FLA and AGM will likely give you the same result; you should only run them to 50% otherwise lifespan will shorten quickly. If you plan on solar, consider lithium. Lithium charges faster and you can run them down (in theory to 0%) to about 10% SOC vs. 50%. Most inverter/chargers have an AGM...

    adding solar to roadtrek

I just purchased a 2018 Roadtrek Simplicity SRT. I would like to add solar and would like to do it myself. I was going to buy a two panel kit, but it comes with items that are already included in the vehicle. Any recommendations?

    Alaska 2025

Looks like someone (cough: @ARD) needs some solar and LiFePO4's. I have some enabling to do upon return.

    Ventana 3709 Solar upgrade

Greetings One and All-- Yesterday I completed installation of six 200W Rich Solar panels on the roof of my Ventana 3709 with combiner box. I also called Mangum Energy to ask whether my 2812 inverter and my new ME-ARC50 remote control advanced series works with my inverter revision or if I...

MOD Should have done this years ago

I did finally find a snippet that said they would heat if power is available. I am not a solar guy(yet), but I would think 14.4 is 14.4 regardless of whether it is coming from the inverter/charger or the solar charger

    Is Completely Lithium Possible?

I kept the FLA chassis batteries in my 2007 Expedition which charge from the alternator, disconnected the combiner and replaced the Trombeta module with a BIM. My LiFePO4 house batteries are charged entirely from 1600 watts of solar.

    URPOWER Solar Lights

...lights at the four corners of my coach, I actually removed the forward left one as the slide tipper was triggering it. These motion activated solar powered solar lights are great for security, illumination when you walk in areas so you don't walk into slides, etc. etc. I use the 3M hook tape...

(Live Updates) Florida 1/14 to 1/23 - Tampa show + real world use

Great start. Once we understand these variables I don't see why it could not be integrated into the Atlas tablet and let it run real time in route. We are going to have to have a fair amount of experience to determine a typical CER. But I suspect the weather forecast may be the most important...

    Hello All...from California

Welcome aboard. Parking under tress to help keep your rig cool is a good idea. You can purchase portable solar panels, we had two 150 watt with extension cables that we could set up 30 feet away from the coach. We had two regular deep cycle batteries and we could boondock for up to 10 days...

Limit Lithium battery charging to 80% with Victron SmartSolar

I know I should know this….but if I am parked with shore power, the solar will keep the lithium’s at 90-100% at all times. Is there a way to limit it to 80% SOC? Can you set it to a certain voltage level (i.e. 13.2v or so) to achieve this? I have a Victron SmartShunt, but I am not sure it...

    Lithium Battery Package

Yes, that is normal operation for the inverter charger. The inverter or charger or both can be turned off on the xanbus system control panel. Refer to: https://xantrex.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/975-1171-01-01-B.pdf (solar is separate operation)

    Question Solar install

...to speak for Joe Dutchstar but we full time and spend a lot of time in full service parks. We sure like being able to hit a BLM and use our solar if we feel like it. I don't expect to break even on my system. I equate having our solar the same as us having a 33 foot Class A coach as apposed...

    2014 itasca solei 38r

I am looking at a 2014 Itasca Solei 38r. It has a residential fridge. How does that work when you are dry camping. The coach has 4 rv batteries and solar panels. All my motorhomes have had 3 way fridges. The current owner of the coach did not dry camp. Thanks Jeff

    Ok Lithium gurus

Newmar has the setup to run one ac going down the road or for x amount of hours overnight, dependent on the 640 or 960ah and ambient overnight temps I really do not need solar or so much the lithium but lithium is the future so I am heavily leaning into it.

Feedback Sought - Solar Install Companies - Comparison Of 3 Options

Hi. I’m seeking feedback on the 3 seeming best companies I’ve found to install solar in my van. Please let me know which one you would pick. I am not very knowledgeable about solar so your help is appreciated. Please note many recommend install companies in Quartzsite, Arizona but those places...

    Concept that would be great!

Needs to be an EV, solar panels on that sleek roof. That fold out of course.

    Question Roof solar pre-wire access

In the photo below is the marked area where I should find the solar pre-wire? I understand one needs to drill thru the roof covered by the metal plate to access the solar pre-wire?

    Eco-trek questions

Hi! New members here— we are carefully considering the purchase of a 2015 e- trek, or Eco trek ( I’ve seen it both ways) with the solar PV unit. We wondered if any current or former members have pointers for what to look out for when looking at this model. Thanks so much!

    Solar panel for 12v battery

I’m in the market for a solar panel to keep my travel trailer battery topped off when not being used. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    DC only fridge..bad idea?

I have a 12 volt fridge in my Jayco. I put in 2 200 amp hour lithium battery's. There is 380 watts of solar mounted flat on the roof.. Just to see how it all worked I turned on the fridge and let it run. After 3 1/2 weeks I finally shut it off.
