Why we put up with all [mod edit politics] here in Ca, hard to beat the weather! Headed to Moss Landing for Christmas in Monterey. Waiting for ups to deliver my base plate for my Roadmaster Flat tow system for my Canyon.

It's gonna be a cold! Thought it would be interesting to monitor temps where everyone else is as we go through the next couple of days.

Day = Thursday, 12/22/2022
Time = 5:18 PM EST
Temp = 39*
Wind Chill = 36*

Not bad for Dec!
Houston. 26• at noon. Dropping again tonight.

Southern Tn/Northern Al. 3 deg this morning. 5 deg at 11:30 this morning.

38° in Coalinga Ca at Harris Ranch where you can boondock in their parking lot (even has all-night security patrols) and have a pretty decent dinner in their steakhouse. Theres also a hotel, truck stop, and a huge charging station for all those EVs traversing I-5. Wonder if they have a 120v outlet to charge e-bikes?

During the “season” you have to get here by about 4pm to get a good spot, but this time of year there’s plenty of room. We got in just after 6pm and found a primo spot waiting for us. This is a well used stop-over between the greater (worser) LA area and Northern Ca. Headed to the east side of the Salton Sea and tomorrow - lows in the mid 40’s, highs mid 70’s.

Just wondering how you stand the smell there? Sometimes I stay at the Tashi Casino in LeMoore on my way to the Southwest, which is 25 miles east of Harris Ranch. I can still smell it that far away at times.

East side of the Salton Sea - Slab City?

Brass monkey cold here in Iowa. 🥶

I stay at Harris anytime I travel although recently they added a ton of superchargers to the gravel lot where most boondock. They are building an rv park supposedly. The delicious steak in the restaurant makes the smell go away.

Going down to 23*F tonight, in warm country.:unsure:🥶

We were 9 degrees in north Georgia this morning, and now, at 4 pm, we have a heat wave that says 16 degrees.

Just down the street from you Bwk. Temp = 12*, wind chill = -8* But that's nothing when compared to some of the members sporting -40 and such!

Last year I promised both Trish and myself that we wouldn't be here next winter, and here I am. Been on generator since 3:00am and did a crash course on how to set up the auto-gen in the coach. Duke Energy says it will 6:00 tomorrow evening before power is restored.

Today we're a 3-gen family. Got a 16kw running at the house, 12.5kw running in the coach, and one of those quiet Honda's running down at the park to keep Dishy McFlatface pumping out Internet isotopes.

We're in Canton, ga; my plant is in Blairsville, 83 miles north of here, and usually, it is 5 to 10 degrees cooler than the house when I get there in the morning, but it is closed today and Monday, and I've had no reports from there today.
What is funny is that my wife was cooking nonstop for tomorrow, and she said to go bowling so I thought no one would be there but it was packed by 12.30 as so cold nothing else to do.

Current update...high temperature today 5F...beats yesterday's -6F!!

SE Tenn, on the river. 7 this morning and got all the way up to 11. Worked on a high area to our West and they said it was 3 this morning.

I'm 13 miles West of Franklin. We're neighbors!
That is one beatifull area, and I love the mountians.
Whenever we take out one of the old cars on a Saturday, we head for the mountains,
All the old cars are convertibles, and we will do 200 to 300 miles.
Franklin and the Highlands are some of our favorite areas. And we have been on the dragon's tail a few times, but the kids that drive the dragon tail kind of scare me away.
In a 57 TBird and almost ate a crotch rocket
He had to be doing 70, and he took my mirror off.

Wow! Left the supposed warmth of St. Augustine Fl, & drove to Powhatan Va to celebrate Christmas with our family! Well it's Thursday evening 15 degrees, windchill is 1 degree! Gonna be 6 by morning!
A balmy 25 tomorrow!
Going to be a cold 28 degrees in St. Augustine tomorrow! Brrr!!!
Oh well......

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!:D

So yeah, we're below -0- now, :) Might be time to put a jacket on. . . .

Noticed it a bit on I-5 a little north of there, but no odors at HR. Guess the wind was in our favor. I noticed a much bigger e-car charging area where the big gravel lot used to be open to boon docking, and saw a sign announcing the soon-to-be RV park. We also always used to stop there when traveling home in stike teams after a few weeks on big fires in the LA area.

And no, no slab city for me. We are now at FOY for a month of e-biking the trails and enjoying a mild climate. They are having a “street party” tonight and we had a good soak in the mineral hot tubs.
