I have always thought that the phrase “If they think they’re going to _____(get away with something), they got another ‘think’coming. (In other words, they had better rethink their decision).
I saw in a book I’m reading a similar phrase, but it was …”they got another thing coming”. And my husband said he always thought it was that way but that makes no sense to me. What do y’all think?😃. who’s right?

I never argue with my wife because if I did, I knew I would have another THING coming! :)

”Thing” makes no sense. 🤔
 
Both are accepted forms of the expression, however one is more grammatically correct. One’s region and age are also factors.
