Just trying to get ideas on a route from Indiana to Florida. We would like to take a different route this year as we took 231 & 431 down last year. We would like to avoid interstates if we can. Just ideas, we have a week to get there.

Unless you like running in the mountains, I take 31 south to 65 and follow that south to Montgomery, AL and then start looking for signs to Dothan AL. I head there and then look for signs to I-10E. I head toward Tallahassee, FL and then meander toward 19S and head down that until I get close to 75S and then jump over to that.
It's a nice calm route.

Yep, pretty much what Rick said. US-231 south from Montgomery is almost all 4-lane and newer pavement. You go through numerous small towns but if you aren't in a hurry it is a nice route. Sometimes we have taken I-10 all the way to I-75 but on occasion we will cut across on RT-19. Safe travels.
