Dead fish - success

I watched CJ first, didn't flip fish, skin side up so grill marks on top side, target temp 130-135, I flailed with the Ninja so went to 135 and it came out great. Would have been better at 130 but success. Used "cherry" Kona pellets.

As to my flailing, when it says ADD FOOD, I'm guessing you don't do anything to tell it you added food? I hit the start button which ended up being the END button. Then it was just a mess from there with starting and stopping and trying to get things set. Guess I need to get back to the owner's manual before the next cook.

Yep, yep, yep…when Ninja says ‘add food’ just put the food in and close the lid. Next step is to pop the top on your beer. Congratulations on your dead fish!
 
I found the manual online, re-read, and yep, thanks @GlampDaddy as there seems to be a sensor in the hood so it just knows. The manual also states grilling is intended for closed hood, you can probably do what you want, don't know, but other modes may be for open hood ops. But in the manual it says when using the temp probe you will select your meat type and whatever else is set and it will stop the cook based on temp for you. However, you better be ready to take it off as obviously it's going to continue to cook until removed. But here is the OG901 (XL) manual for reference to re-read as I did and will do again.

The app is great and integrates well with the iPhone (probably Android too but don't use one) and alerts you nicely on progress, add food, done, etc. (adding new mode in next software update "burned/ready" for @sheridany)

Those that say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, clearly never met Ninja!!!
 
I use the grill mode for my steaks and fish. I have thick-cut filets and cook on medium.
 
Tonight was London Broil. Added smoke with cherry pellets. Used grill mode initially on high but changed to medium to slow down the cook. Actually started with thermometer 1 set to beef but things went awry so went to manual mode and monitored with temp probe.

Result: best I’ve had. Amazing flavor. I pulled it at 125 and it was perfect. Smoke flavor was amazing.

She seems to have misplaced the power cord. I cannot think how that could have happened! Oh my!

Well, last night I went to cook pork chops, she wanted them on the gas grill. I wanted on the Ninja but somehow couldn't find the power cord!
