Hey all, I purchased a conversion and am having trouble getting it insured! Itis a 1992 Chevy Kodiak, which was a fire truck of some sort. It looks like an ambulance. It was fully converted into an RV with everything it needs to be called that, and beautifully done too.

Does anyone have any ideas for getting this thing insured? I am totally stuck. Thank you!

I would think that any auto insurance company would be happy to take your money. Is it difficult because it was a custom conversion? Looks like a cool, cozy rig!

yes! most of the majpor carriers wont do it, but I found a local agent who found someone to insure me. I'll have a price tomorrow but at the worst, it should be a few hundred per year. What a pain in the arse it was, since it wasn't converted "professionally" - as in receipts from one of a handful of official conversion companies.

This thing is built incredibly well, and I was very surprised to find it so hard to insure. I joined a local marketplace and asked there, where dozens of people were happy to help immediately :)
