Shoreline RV Park, Eureka Ca. Decent park, nice mgmt and neighbors, right on the estuary so we can easily launch the Admirals’s boat, and I found a nice local Irish Pub (Kelly Gallagher’s) a few blocks away. The park is a aging a bit, aesthetically a little challenged, but the location and price are right and we are happy with it. 50a, pull through, good 5G cell service, and peaceful and quiet.

Edit: calling this a “resort” is a bit overstated (an over-used term these days to be sure) but it is nice enough, under control, clean and in good condition, and the location suits our Eureka visit perfectly.

First night out in the New 4081. Found out there is a list a mile long of provisions I did not think to load but that is what the first trip is for. Loving the new rig. I did find the first build issue though. After doing the morning dishes I found water dripping into my midship basement locker. Did some digging and found a bad glue joint in the flex hose to rigid ABS on the galley sink drain. I will have wait to get home to pull it apart and re-glue the joint. There is no way I am taking it to a service center for a repair like that.

Porto Bodega is pricey but a really nice park. It has been recently spruced up and improved. Easy walk to a few places to eat and a market, so not having a toad was not a big issue. My ebike came in handy though. Looking forward to many years of good times in the Dutch Star, hard to ask for much more.

Last time I was there (Nov 2020) it was a little rough around the edges. Nice location, fun crowd during the last weekend of non-commercial crab season (the placed was packed way over capacity), but the park itself was a bit dingy. Maybe with the higher prices they‘ve invested a bit in the park. The park Im in now would also be well suited to camping without a toad, so if you feel like exploring Eureka, its a good choice. Also I agree, that repair isn’t worth the wait and hassle of warranty work. Should be some compensation, but that’s fairly unlikely.

Samoa Boat Ramp and County Campground (Humbolt County)

What it lacks in amenities it makes up for in peace, quiet, and waves breaking on the beach. Its a county campground, $22/night, hosted, and has a boat ramp and basic services - no hook-ups and don’t need em. 1st come, 1st served and as you can see we got lucky and found a vacant site. Pretty much empty now but I imagine the place is hopping during warmer seasons. The temp is perfect and its nice to be by the ocean again.

The jeep will be perfect for exploring the Samoa Dunes Rec area (designated OHV access) and transporting the boats to calmer waters. We are on the inland side of the peninsula where the breakers are small and the sea is fairly calm. It’s really raging on the other side - enough to hear it plainly from here. We’ll probably go over there this afternoon. Rain is forecasted for the next couple days.

Lighthouse Cove RV park in Crescent City. This park is a delight and our site is perfect - facing the bay, lots of room around us, nice view of the light house, fog horns and sea lion sounds in the distance, good restaurants nearby, heated indoor pool next door, aquarium across the street, and excellent walking, hiking, and jeep touring in the area. Also for some reason we are having perfect weather - about 25% rain, the rest sunny with temps in the 60’s. I’ve had some great north coast trips this time of year, and this is one of the best.

Well, we hope so too! Tomorrow we will leave the park and make a run to town for fuel. It's siting at 1/4 tank right now. Then on to Clayton just to put some seat time in.

Next week, were headed to Margaritaville for a few days. Kids will be here for Thanksgiving, but after that, we're probably out-of-here!

Pensacola for a couple of weeks, Orlando for a couple more, and the Stewart for awhile.

And then, well who knows.

Looking good (I like the colors and paint job - sporty!) and nicer weather than where I am today (horizontal wind, slides in). I spent some time at Ft. Pickings CG a little west of you and enjoyed the area very much, including the National Naval Aviation Museum at NAS Pensacola. The Blue Angles were training daily so we had an on-going air show.

We have enjoyed Lighthouse Cove several times. If you are headed up 199 into Oregon you might stop at Lone Mountain Rv in O‘Brien Oregon. Nice, clean park in the woods. Really enjoy the drive up 199 to Grants Pass.

Thanks - we are thinking about heading home that way as long as there is no significant weather in the Siskiyous between Ashland and Yreaka.

And if you do decide to take 199 you must stop in Cave Junction and check out Taylor’s Meats. It right on 199 and even if you are not a meat lover it’s an amazing place to visit.

Enjoying Beachfront RV in Brookings Or - jacks down, slides in, wind and rain keeping us indoors for now, but we found a perfect Mexican restaurant (Cazadores) for lunch across the marina. Surf is up and will probably provide some good pics later when the weather is a bit more cooperative. None of the sites in the foreground are occupied due to planned construction.

We hope to put the boats in the water and paddle/row the Chetco River, but if the weather doesn’t cooperate there is an Irish Pub, good seafood, a couple pizza places (pineapple on request), an ice cream joint, and aforementioned Mexican place. So we wont starve and I guess we can try to work it off when the sun is visible again someday.
