One day visit is no problem

funny story, driving through the park last trip, a roadrunner crossed in front of us, 1/4 mile later, a coyote, was waiting for a giant hole to appear in the road...
Hopefully we see both do them on opposite sides of the road at the same time 🤣😂. Don’t want to see the giant ….

We arrived to Holbrook, AZ. Very dusty here. Staying at the KOA until Saturday as we will be going to the Petrified Forest tomorrow to see what it’s all about.

At Gaffney for service.

@Neal - they are out of RVForum materials 😊

Should be a new member signing up (at least one, maybe two).

Lady in the booth said hi to Elli.

Turns out they started doing the M2 chassis service only Dec, Jan, and Feb. Her boss asked about my appointment and she told him since I was here before I was gradfathered in. Nice that they still did mine.

Awe thanks, Willie is the sweetest. Will restock on next visit. Hope you had a great visit.

She is.

All good with the coach and generator - they checked a few other things as well and all good so good to roll another year 😊

@#1footballfan I like the way your awning mounts, do you find it more susceptible to wind than the older traditional mounted ones?

@ARD and @NWIP please give us an Alaska journey thread.

Both of them retract in based on the wind but I’m sure there is a setting that can be adjusted for its sensitivity.

Riverwood RV Resort Mancos, Colorado

I left Ridgway, CO this morning and drove through the San Juan Mountains to Mancos, Colorado. Mancos is a small town, population 1,400, in a high mountain valley at 7,000 feet. Mancos is between Durango and Cortez and it's just down the road from Mesa Verde National Park.

The drive mileage distance wasn't very much but driving in the Rockies is challenging and tiresome... I had 4 decent pulls and descents, over passes today on twisty turny 2 lane roads. I went over Lizard Head Pass, opted out of Red Mountain Pass/Million Dollar Highway, which summits at 10,222 feet and my Garmin showed 6-9% grades over the run ascending and descending. Those who spend time driving in the Rockies, like I do all Summer, know the challenges with keeping your coach in between the lines on twisty turny 2 lane roads ascending and descending...

Riverwood RV Park is a nice place... it is well run and well maintained. I've stayed here a few times making my runs through the Rockies... (y)

I've got to stop looking at this thread. We made a late departure date this year and I'm really wanting to leave early, but everything is kind of set now. :cautious: Could you all please just stay where you are till mid August?

How about you continue to live vicariously through these photos, August will be here b4 you know it; stay strong! :)

Drove to beautiful Barstow, CA for the night. At least they have a dog 🐶 run for our fur babies. Onto Santa Barbara, CA tomorrow and finally some cooler weather. It feels like 100 🥵 right now here.

I do believe you will enjoy Santa Barbara just a bit more….😂

Looks like your cat has his perch on the dash; cool.

Mountain Views RV Resort Creede, Colorado

I left Mancos, CO this morning on a beautiful Rocky Mountain day. I had an awesome drive through the San Juan Mountains on predominately scenic 2 lane roads over to Mountain Views RV Resort in Creede, CO. I have never stayed here before but I am very familiar with the area from my adventure motorcycle trips. I will be returning in September for a NKK Colorado State Rally. There were a couple of pulls along the way but nothing compared to Wolf Creek Pass between Pagosa Springs and South Fork. According to my Garmin, Wolf Creek Pass has 6-8% grades ascending and descending over the Continental Divide with a summit of 10,857 feet.

I couldn't imagine not spending my Summer traveling all over the Rockies in numerous states before heading back to the desert in October for the Winter. I have no idea how many high mountain passes I summit in my Ventana. But I do know it's a lot!!! :ROFLMAO: Not to mention my mpg is often times 5/6 mpg and my DEF consumption is more than if I was cruising around the flat lands.

Walnut Hills campground in Staunton, VA. It’s an older campground with a new-ish section called the meadow that is mostly pull thrus and can handle the largest of rigs. My site was 80’ long. The traffic pattern to get to this section of the CG is quite the chinese fire drill. You have to loop through the CG and head out as if you’re leaving. As we learned on this outing, parts of the CG flood

when heavy rain passes through. Several folks had to relocate within the CG. Other than that, not a bad stopover if you’re traveling along I-81.
