You are checking the tank aft of the chassis batteries, right?
For those that have not had to top off the fluid, have you considered checking the quality of your fluid? I believe it's a pH test per ITR. At some point the fluid needs to be replaced. For those of us topping off I think that helps keeping it fresh and is less of a concern to me for testing or replacing.
Anyone here that's done a pH test on the OASIS system?
Yes, the tank inside the engine hatch. No, I'm afraid to check the ph. From talking with some at ITR, the system is all stainless so he (or she) wasn't worried about ph values as far as corrosion and they have seen systems with 15 year old fluid. Not sure as far as thermal value, but being a bit frugal, changing 12 or so gallons of fluid at 28 bucks a gallon isn't at the top of my long list. I'm sure someone here will respond with a good reason I should change it out and it will get added to the list.
I have thought about changing it out....but I agree it would be a lot of fluid ($$) and not a lot of fun.... I did buy a PH tester... Now I just need to get a sample out of it and make sure I know how to use the tester.
We were having to add fluid the first couple years after we got our new to us coach. After we had a couple very slow leak connections fixed and then after fixing the take up tube in the overflow container a couple years ago, haven’t had to add any fluid.
Now that we hit the 10 year mark, been wondering about the pH - adding to my list of things to look into (my “what to do when I am considering boredom” list)
I have mine serviced every year hole in Florida by Hydronic Heating Specialist. He is from Elkhart area but comes to FL every winter and services in many parks.
Last year when he checked the PH he said it was a little high but recommended just adding water to reservoir when low. He will be back next month so we’ll see what it is
I know Newmar Service Center has a standard quote for fluid change and it’s about $2k
