Well this is pretty cool! Last year in October, Trish bought a bunch of pumpkins and put them just below Site #7 (The Holly Tree). She called it the Pumpkin Patch.

Fast forward to the end of the season and I was to dispose of the pumpkins before the rotted. But I didn't. And as the winter progressed, the pumpkins melted away into a gooey mess and eventually they were either eaten by bugs or they soaked into the ground.

So about a month ago, I noticed some huge leafed plants growing below Site #7 and it turns out, they are pumpkin plants! Apparently from the seeds of last years pumpkins!

And then today, I noticed there was actually some small pumpkins growing on the vines. This is really cool, especially if the cycle continues each year.

It's the little things, right? :)

Picture 1 is last years pumpkins (from Walmart) in the "Pumpkin Patch". The next 2 pictures are the pumpkin plants growing today, direct decedent's of last years pumpkins!

View attachment 13907Will you be bringing a pumpkin to the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival this year? I believe the record weight stands at just under 2200lbs. Looks like you have a good chance at a winner.

Cross your fingers that it doesn't rain Barry!

Rain is ok when you're in a nice location. Ive enjoyed many afternoons watching it rain from the comfort of the coach, whether at the beach or in the woods. Thats when you play cards and cook crock pot meals. And maybe enjoy a cocktail or two….

And where we live it seems as though it never rains….

In june and July I encountered rain almost daily everywhere north and east Texas. Things didnt dry out again until mid Wyoming headed back west. I enjoyed it most of the time, often occurring in the middle of the night, with the exception of a few hail storms that were somewhat concerning. But fortunately no damage. Also very little of it occurred while driving which was nice. Only had a couple drops since we’ve been home.

Well we arrived at Deer Springs for a week of R&R. Even with a little rain, it feels great to get out of town. It was nice to finally meet you Jim and Trish, and if Mother nature cooperates tomorrow, I get to check out your campground.

Things have been busy around here.

In light of the wonderful performance we are getting with Starlink, I bought one of those overpriced, ugly, prefab buildings and did my best to hide it behind some trees. I'm using this ugly box to install the network and supporting infrastructure that will take "Dishy" to a height of digital enlightenment that only his satellite tracking self can appreciate.

I also mixed and poured approximately 3,300 lbs of Sakrete and installed a 55' tower that we will mount Dishy on. To help Dishy get the signal out, I'm installing 2-Mesh antenna's that will provide Internet service to all sites in the park equally. Right now the modem is just sitting on a countertop at the campsite host site. It's doing OK, but it's not perfect. We hope to change that!

Also started the home for my (new-to-me) London Aire, which I am told I may actually be able to bring home one day. :)

Life is good!

And Trish and I were glad to finally put a face with a name and find that they are 2 of the nicest people one would care to meet. It turns out, we have a lot in common and have done many similar things as we worked our way to our present places in life.

And their beautiful shinny Dutch Star makes Site #1 look GOOD! :) Check out the reflection of the campground flag in the second picture.

And what campground would be complete without some Clay Pot People? This is Trish's first time making CPP, but I'm sure they'll be all over the place next year. :)

Yeah, I think they're pot heads. :)

@Jim ... how's site #4 looking now-a-days? We will be pulling in (I mean backing in) on it in about three (3) weeks. Really looking forward to getting back up there and maybe some cooler weather (vs. S Florida). I did send you an email the other day. Hope you got it.

Yes Steve, got your email and followed up this morning.

Weather last night was mid 60's, no rain and an almost full moon was making for some awesome skies. Several campfires across the park added to the ambiance and everyone was enjoying themselves.

At 6:30 this morning, The International Space Station was visible for about 7 minutes as it made its way across the sky, and that's always cool!

Looking forward to seeing your new coach and visiting with you and Lisa again.

See you soon!

You know, I have learned to really like you Deer Springs folk. However, jealously is beginning to rear its ugly head.….good stuff @Jim , good stuff.
