First thing to consider, well the only thing to consider, Is! How do our activities effect the world environment. For example! PG&E can build a generation plant just outside of Bullhead AZ, and avoid regulatory problems. However that doesn't reduce pollution/poisoning our collective environment. What it does is hide what is being done by thinning the vail so to speak.

Even if you don't live in LA the problem is yours. The same way shifting manufacturing to places like China, or other places that don't have the same controls, only serve to produce more environmental issues, even if your personal space seems more palatable.

No this is a problem that is collectively shared, and all should be willing to share in the cost to fix it.
Yep!! Here in Alberta Canada our Govt is mandating better performance of our power generating plants. We have moved from coat to natural gas but that, apparently, is still not clean enough! But, sadly, on top of the existing coal mines, a new one is being opened and a few more are in the works! The purpose.......to supply China!! It has also been proven that it is impossible for some of our headwaters to NOT be contaminated by said coal mining! I shake my head.

Good try Rich 😉 but it IS political. Most of what the current leadership in CA does is either illegal or unethical. But for now they have a long leash as the voters in this state have elected to live under these conditions. It defies all logic...what many experts will tell you, is that an RV carrying the amount to electrical power to push them down the road will weigh so much, the roads will be destroyed beyond the current condition (which is not good). The voting majority in CA have "LEFT" common sense behind and this beautiful state is being hijacked. Sorry for the rant Neil, and I understand if you banish me, but truth is truth so help me GOD. Blessings
I personally would not want to sit on a load of lithium batteries going down the road. Thank God, my vehicles are registered in Montana. I don’t have to deal with this liberal point of no return.

Our gas is 2.07 a gal, we drill for and refine oil and gas and our air isnt brown...we dont have bad air alerts or have to stay indoors..We dont have brown or black outs..go figure

This was never about the environment.

This was never a single party, administration, or individual.

The core of the "climate debate" is all about greed and profits for those that sell the alternatives. History has repeated itself many times with various products, trends, etc that solve a problem created by those selling the solution.

There is such a thing as pollution, and there are things we can fix as a society but most of those things that we can fix are not what are being addressed.

For the time, it appears that arbitrary enforcement is not being sought, but I can confirm that waivers are not being issued for commercial products meant to remove and or roll back emissions or to delete systems.

Individuals will not be prosecuted (at this time) but without a green light for commercial offerings, the choices are limited.

It will all be reversed in three years.

I don't own an EV, but I think in urban areas like the DFW here they make a lot of sense. I was by a Target today and there were 6 or 8 EV's charging out at the stations. They may be lowering demand for fossil fuels which may be contributing to lower prices at the pump for we neanderthals who still drive ICE vehicles. $1.90 in Plano today, win-win.

You know they still have to generate the electricity to charge those evs..ask Texas how well solar worked in a blizzard

Solar and wind generation in Texas have largely contributed to grid security. Yeah, lets not take advantage of free wind and solar.

nothing wrong with electricity from many sources. Each source of electricity has its own positive and negative.

What is needed is balance. When a form of electricity is out right banned or denied, that is where I start looking for the cash flow as to why its being denied.

During the day and moderate temperatures, solar and wind add a lot off capactiy to the grid. Neither form addresses the night, cold, or stormy weather conditions when power is still very much in demand.

Data centers are popping up all over Texas and they are 24x7 high energy demand customers. They are often paired up with Solar and or wind to help offset the other power needs, not because its better for the environment, but rather its cheaper for the developer.

When a data center is being planned, they are requiring multiple power sources. Often the energy companies do not have enough excess power available. Datacenters help with the math by offering to provide "x" gigawatts of power back to the grid.

In Texas there are 4 main sources of power. Nuclear, Coal/Natural Gas, Solar, and Wind. We do have some hydro power, but not much.

So a data center developer looks at the available options and usually selects solar, as they can build this cheaply along with government subsidies, and then acquire the guaranteed power from the electric grid they need.

Starting Friday, we are going to be stress testing our power grid once again. We won't have solar or wind available, Hydro is offline for the most part due to water tables and the season, leaving only nuclear and the Coal/Gas generation facilities.

If anyone is interested in seeing where power is made and how its made, here is a map of the USA

Grid security? People died because the dependence on solsr proved to be a disaster in the blizzard..and they foolishly did not have nat gas reserves

Grid failures, to include natural gas infrastructure, largely occurred because generating facilities were not hardened for catastrophic cold weather events. Many were undergoing seasonal maintenance shutdowns. It had zero to do with wind and solar, .

I'm envious you don't have brown air, but you don't have a population anywhere near that of California. Your entire state is less than half of Los Angeles county alone!

I remember driving through the brown haze hanging over San Berdoo going to the Coachella Valley to visit my grandparents in the late 70's & early 80's... you could feel the gritty haze in your eyes and throat! CARB has had it moments where actual change for the better has occurred; that brown haze is gone today. Admittedly, they've got too big for their britches and need to be dialed back to reality.

Came here to read more about the California Air Resource Board Act and how it affects the DEF HEAD Emulators, “Deletes”, and other “tampering of emissions”.

Silly me. 🙄
