So I am at Walmart scanning and bagging my almost $300 worth of groceries while the employee that wants $15 an hour "monitors" and then this happened.
Her - why are you double bagging all of your groceries?
Me - excuse me?
Her - you are wasting our bags!
Me - if you don't like the way I'm bagging the groceries, feel free to come on over here and bag them yourself.
Her - that's not my job!
Me - okay, then I will bag my groceries how I please if that's all right with you.
Her - why are you using two bags?!
Me - because the bags are weak and I don't want the handles to break or the bottoms to rip out.
Her - well that's because you are putting too much stuff in the bag. If you took half of that stuff out and put it in a different bag then you wouldn't need to double bag.
*10 seconds of me just staring at her.
Me - so you want me to split these items in half and put half of them in a different bag so that I don't have to double bag.
Her - exactly.
Me - so I would still be using two bags to hold the same number of items.
Her - no because you wouldn't be double bagging.
*me pressing two fingers to my left eye in an attempt to make it stop twitching.
Me - okay so here I have a jug of milk and a bottle of juice double bagged. If I take the milk out and remove the double bagging and just put the milk in the single bag and the juice in that single bag I'm still using two bags for these two items.
Her- no because you are not double bagging them so it's not the same number of bags.
*me looking around at about 10 other customers who at this point are enjoying the show.
Me- is this like that Common Core math stuff I keep hearing about?
Her- never mind you just don't get it.
And with that, she went back to her little Podium so she could continue texting or playing games on her phone or whatever it was she was doing before she decided to come over and critique my bagging skills.

When I got to the point of paying I would have jammed my Shell credit card or my Medicare card in the card reader and then yelled at her to come help me. I could have strung that out for at least 15 minutes messing around with a couple different cards.

Although I am boycotting Walmart as much as I can. If I do use them I order online and let them load the truck in the mostly covered parking. My research says that it takes 5 pickers for every cashier they get rid of to offer this service. It is not just the 15 dollar help that carries on this moron mentality, the bean counters can't figure it out either.

There's a grain of truth or two there I think.
On topic, a while back I scored some little bathroom trashcans sized and made to accept standard leftover plastic grocery type bags as liners. I shortly discovered I could use almost any bags except Wal Mart's. They are so thin and shoddy they won't reliably hold trash. Used kleenex, cotton balls, q-tips, egregiously heavy stuff like that.

On the other end of the spectrum, I went to a local convenience store I favor and found their cash registers had gone out. Not to worry, two cashiers had it under control. One checked out, did the math and sales tax in her head and the second stood by verifying her math on a pocket calculator. It took me a few minutes to realize the one with the calculator wasn't correcting her, just error checking. I was so impressed I wanted to go back in and buy more stuff. Speed seemed even quicker than usual. I sometimes do such math in my head while standing in long checkout line with just a few items so I'll already know what my change had better be but I couldn't hold a candle to this lady. The depressing part is wondering how few peers she probably has across the country. She's since been replaced. I can only hope she's gone somewhere where she's valued.

About 3 years ago we almost stopped going to Walmart forever. We were in a location up north for a 2 month time period. We were visiting a local Walmart in a small town. After about the second visit the DW noticed a "double hit" on a grocery item, in other words the checker scanned a item twice. It was only a couple bucks so we blew it off.

Next visit a different checker double scanned two items, we heard one and caught it. Of course it took forever for her to correct it and in the meantime we found the second double hit. We soon had another visit where they double rung another item. Of course we didn't catch it until checking the receipt and then it was too late and we had to go stand in line at customer service. Anyway, before leaving the area we experienced another double hit on an item and that was it, we started going through self checkouts at any Walmart we visited from then on.

If it wasn't for us using them for our free cash station we probably wouldn't shop there very much.

@FL-JOE I have not had that problem. My thoughts are I will not use a self check out. It's an employee thing for me, I shop local to keep the economy in tact where I go. If I must use "Walmart the supporters of BLM" I use the net. There is never an over ring with that service and lines are NOT.

What I have found more often than not is that items are missing from the order. This is not just walmart, but most all curb side checkout. The grocery is the worst part.

Example: Order a 16 oz of shredded cheese---get sold a 16ct slided cheese. --- or my favorite: Order "Extra / Heavy pulp OJ" get "Pulp Free"

You saw the button that says no substitutions right. The only time I have had items missing is out of stock items
